Imagine him catching a corner and starting our counter attack. Very excited with his distribution

Something I heard on Taw today...were all going to have to get used to him trying to sucker in defenders with the ball at his feet and learn to not freak out...that video confirms it :)

He is gonna get caught out one day, isn't he? Hopefully it'll be when we are leading by 3-4 goals to 0 :)

Just hope the fans have his back and cheer him on after he makes an inevitable error.  Confidence is key for a GK.

I'm thrilled about this transfer (I'll still hold from celebrating until I see him in the LFC shirt). I hope he can solve our GK problems once and for all. While I know that the PL is a different league from any other one, the GK position is the one I would expect needs the lesser adaptation period. I hope he can hit the ground running or something close to that.

If stats are of any worth, here's a little basic dash of it from Transfermarkt:

Games played in the Brazilian Serie A: 44
Goals conceded during this period: 44
Average of goals conceded per game: 1
Number of clean sheets kept during this period: 20

Games played in the Italian Serie A: 37
Goals conceded during this period: 28
Average of goals conceded per game: 0.75
Number of clean sheets kept during this period: 17

Marked improvement since he moved to Italy. However, let's keep in mind its a league that is traditionally considered as one where teams focus a lot on the defensive side of the game.

For comparison, here are Oblak numbers in La Liga and the Liga NOS:

Games played in the Liga NOS: 60
Goals conceded during this period: 71
Average of goals conceded per game: 1.18
Number of clean sheets kept during this period: 24

Games played in La Liga: 116
Goals conceded during this period: 67
Average of goals conceded per game: 0.57
Number of clean sheets kept during this period: 68

Warning: These stats are just a bit of fun to look at. A goalkeeper overall performances also depend on a lot of factors. The team you play for is probably one of the biggest. For example, Oblak plays on a very defensively minded team in Atletico Madrid and maybe he would've conceded a little bit more playing for a team that puts a little bit less emphasis on defending.

If it's official! Basically, if he can make less mistakes than Migs and Karius, we will win the league!

I must be the only one who doesn't really care about his visionary passes.

I want a keeper that does what he is there to do and be the difference between winning and losing like De Gea did for the Mancs so many times.

Old school for me not all this fancy dan sh*te that may or may not lead to something. We have enough creation in us most of the time anyway just make the run of the mill stuff look easy and then show us what you have in the big key moments and be the difference.

      YouTube videos don't mean jack.
I could make a video of Pickford making him look like Buffon.

I partially agree with you but what an extra weapon it can be, can you just imagine some of those throws and kicks heading towards Bobby, Mo and Sadio, I'm salivating here.

I was at both the Roma home leg and the Brazil Croatia friendly and one of the biggest things I came away from both thinking was how good his distribution  from hand was.

He was collecting crosses and launching it 30 odd yards into the opposition half.
That on the break to our front three could be scary

Absolutely right of course and I'm not debating what an asset it could be just personally it wouldn't be my first reason for being excited about a new GK.

While it isn't the first thing you look for, that fast distribution can be the difference between a fast counter attack or drawing pressure on yourselves after delaying releasing the ball and keeping the ball in your own half

Yup he's good, his positioning is good too when making a save. He is also strong on one on one situations because he is a really quick goalkeeper off his line and he is quick to make himself look bigger.

Sky Sports are reporting that we have signed Alisson and also reporting no bid has ever been made.

      Classic.

Good, quick distribution is deffo a big plus, but a bonus as far as I'm concerned.  A worldy save or 2 when we're 1 up or level is more important, as well dealing with crosses & dominating his box.

Would have expected it later today so the lad can get back on his hols.

Although little matter of a footy game tonight so they may wait until tomorrow morning.
