If only we have had a Mane at the top of his form...

Karius has been very good. Midfield is still an issue though, no real control but everyone was decent.

Gave motm to VVD, didn't put a foot wrong and dealt with the boo boys plus I haven't seen a CB order his teammates around like that at LFC since Carra hung up his boots. Really solid workmanlike performance sprinkled with a bit of Salah - Firmino star dust. Really important to win with Spurs finding their groove.

I gave motm to karius.  Simply because it is refreshing to see a team have a few chances on goal and not score.  Also it is hard at the moment being a LFC goalie, the pundits are all out their to nit pick their every movement.

That said good solid performances from VvD, Bobby and Salah.

Two games in a row we have been solid at the back.   Let's keep it up will need it CL.

So good to get that early goal and shut the home crowd up.
Thought we would've gone on and snotted them 5/6-0 but we allowed them back in with a few chances after that goal and we looked a bit wobbly in midfield with sloppy, short passes to one another.
World class second goal, brilliant one-two from Bobby and Mo.

Wise move putting Milner on for Chamberlain as he defo got stuck in and created more. Dunno what's up with Ox at the moment, he scored that belter against City, played a blinder that day yet just hasn't followed it up.

3 massive points today which is all we can ask for.

Can't wait for Porto now !! :scarf:

Good team performance. Midfield wasn't great in the first half and couldn't keep possession, but Karius kept the clean sheet with three good saves - just what you need from your keeper during the inevitable lapse from outfield players. His distribution, particularly on the opening goal, was excellent. If Loris keeps this up it would be a huge plus going forward.  Would love to use the Phil money on something other than a keeper.

Bobby and Mo combining for two goals and there's not much  new to say here - I went with Bobby as my MOTM.

Sadio missed chances again, but he also helped with his work rate and, on the 2nd goal, wisely kept possession that led to the buildup. His pace and running still make a difference to our attack even if his final ball isn't there at the  moment.

The midfield was better in the 2nd half and I thought this was especially due to Wijnaldum. Hopefully he has a similar game Wednesday. Glad to see Ox play 60 after being somewhat unused of late. Lallana had a decent shift after coming on as well, but Milner I thought did not make an impact. Can was decent.

Andy and Trent did alright at outside back, good energy from both, but both need to be more accurate in their passing.

Virgil was commanding and I think is a future Liverpool captain.

Now let's score a couple of away goals Wednesday and defend well.

Thought Firminho was was very poor in possession to be honest but very good finish and assist . VVD looks like he plays in first gear so much to come from him. Good performance very professional and keeps us on track for second

Fantastic thinking. It will be like when Woolworths closed here in the UK and they were basically handing out stock to customers for free days before closure.

Wasn't the best performance we've seen from the lads this season but it was solid and professional. I though Karius was excellent again today, and Mo put in another masterclass; FSG give this lad a new contract with improved terms immediately. MOTM for me, although Karius and Van Dijk came close.

It was a decent game, first half we were outplayed yet ruthless when given a sniff of goal and second half we played better but were wasteful with our chances to really kill it off. All that matters is 3 points, clean sheet and no injuries going into a very important and tough away trip to Libson mid-week.

Obviously a good win, decent in defense, lot more stability than we've been used to. Little bit disjointed in the first half, understandable to a degree as the midfield get choped and changed. Improved as Klopp and his coaches organised the midfield better.

I have concerns with Salah playing inside. I mean yes he links up with Firmino but we lose width. It works well against poorer teams but against better organised defenses I'm not so sure. I can see why Klopp wants him closer to Firmino, clever interplay can unlock defenses as it did today. Just hope if there is heavy traffic he will go wide and use his pace and skill.

Although Mane didn't score I can see the confidence returning. One great goal could be the springboard.

That was solid impressed with the control in the second half we never looked bothered at the back.

Karius immense when it mattered the most.

Very happy with that performance and result, especially 2nd half where we were in total control. My mom was vvd, he makes such a difference to the defence, a real leader.

      Quote from bmck
Amazing isn't it.   It's so quiet.

After the type of win you want this side to be having. Score a couple and stay solid. 3 points. Clean sheet. No fuss. Move onto the next one...

Shows how many only crawl out after a loss.

If we do make it again to where we were at the end of August, they'll still whinge selling Coutinho "ruined" our title challenge.

Himself had a great Sunday too. A bore home draw against Getafe and hauled off well before the end. Meanwhile we're off on a European tour. The travelling Kop will send him a "wish you were here" postcard, while topping up the tans during the week.

You can see the difference VVD makes. OK it's just his first clean sheet, but he brings leadership, discipline, and organisation that this club has lacked defensively for years and years. Matip has also improved while Robbo wins tackles and 50-50's that Moreno didn't.

61 league goals so far, 34 away is more than everyone else, and more than all the away games Iast year. So we've consolidated our spot in the top 4, and the unfortunate nutjobs have lost their keyboards again, and gone back into hibernation.

Yes Jonjo was great today but he's had a shot at it here and may be he was a bit unlucky to be sold he's not quite good enough for us. Not that great as an attacking midfielder, good holding playmaker but he's found his level.

The big fella was a boss today. Smiled it off and walked away with the points in the bag. Third rather than third last.

I don't think the Saints were that bad. Just looked a little devoid of direction. They troubled us a fair bit in the first half but didn't have the polish to finish off the work of their wide men.

That's where having a good keeper comes in. Helped bat way their efforts on goal and we doubled our lead soon after.

Great weekend. Would've been perfect if Lacazette tucked in that late chance against the Spurs but overall, can't complain.

Pumped up for a Champions League knock-out tie next! Oh how long it has been...

Can't get ahead of ourselves here. Klopp said it was good, not brilliant. And Soton were poor in the second half. Lot harder challenges coming up. Good win obviously and we certainly needed a boring win as our games were turning into 3 act drama's.

Klopp himself knows the top 4 is going to be very hard. For all the drama against Spurs, it was not lost on Klopp that we had far less possession than them. And in today's first half again we had less possession. So we take nothing for grated, Klopp can't.

We have an even chance with Spurs and Chelsea. United I would say will finish 2nd.
