Something was done. VAR was used. I don't want to sound triumphalistic, but if the league paid attention to the noise from the protestors and flip floppers last week and all season, nothing could be done, and the conman would have been rewarded.

Defenders get yellow cards every week, it's not exactly a deterrent. But overturning his penalty will hurt him far more than a yellow card ever could.

"Well excuse me" sorry for being triumphallistic, but VAR was only half done, Coady should of got a card or am I just being obtuse... Now stop wumming  :lmao:

That one there is where it all falls apart.

That is simply not a clear and obvious error. It's debatable where the foul began (although I'm sure Mr VAR on here will say it was 'a factual decision'). It's just sh*te - the referee has made an onfield call regarding a tight decision - rather than watching 30 replays to overturn it just go with his decision and get on with the game.

But also F**k Brighton - they had it coming after last weekend.

You're not triumphalistic. As with all the other "I was in favour of VAR but..." flip floppers, you haven't a clue.

A VAR can only alert the ref to something he hasn't seen. The VAR did his job correctly in this case. A VAR cannot issue yellow cards. That is the sole discretion of the ref on the pitch.

Right so what's stopping  VAR telling the ref Coady dived coz the ref didn't see it?

The ref saw it. Why he didn't give a card is a question only he can answer. It's not a VAR issue.

This has got me feeling liking a conspiracy theorist.

Look at the spurs player passing the ball and our lads around him, they're in the same position in both photos but Son moves backwards when the lines are put on.
      Optical illusion or what?

      How is that not offside??

It was offside & my reason for it is that they quickly moved on from showing VAR do the line thing..

To the eye Shabs I too thought it was offside. I was convinced it wasn't  going to stand. Think VAR is going to continue to confuse us all for the time being.  :f_doh:

The thing is, Id nearly accept the son goal as its marginal, benefit of doubt to the attacker, only we have seen more onside looking goals given as offside this season and not just Liverpool

That's correct Brian it is across board, problem I have I'm still not convinced by the lines and where they put them. As a massive greyhound enthusiast/owner/ follower the so called winning line has always caused massive debate (( especially flapping tracks )) over the years.

I see no difference with our so called lines in football. Call it paranoia or whatever I will always have my doubts about them.  :f_doh:

How come it took 2 seconds to come up with that but that one that went against Sadio with is hair standing up on his arm, a few games back, they kept drawing the lines till his hair follicle was offside??? F***ing joke!!!!

The photos posted are probably the easiest "Spot the Difference" competition ever. Only the second one shows all of the forward's foot, where the decision was made. The first photo is useless.

I notice also that the latest penalty given to the mancs during their derby, was for an identical foul as happened during our game v Brighton. So the consistency is there. Thankfully it didn't stand because VAR stepped in and spotted the manc to be offside.

Great documentary series on BT atm, focusing on UEFA referees during European Cup games in the past couple of seasons, where the main VAR incidents were shown with the communication broadcast, such as the penalty in the PSG v manc game, and the offside call that kicked City out of the European Cup v Spurs. The other headline was, the ref in our away game v Barcelona admitted he got injured after a couple of minutes, and should have been replaced. If he was, we may not have needed the herculean task we did in the second leg.
