Ireland v Armenia last night. The first time a ref went to a monitor to review a VAR call, in the history of the nation.

If that isn't remarkable enough for people, fair enough. But it's interesting to note that with the 3 screens at the home team's stadium, the crowd saw the review on them while the ref was at the monitor, which is what it should be, rather than fans kept in the dark at EPL and other stadiums until after the decision is made.

Of course we don't have one screen at our place, which doesn't help matters for fans during VAR reviews. But maybe we can finally have one when the new stand is opened. We really need one these days, if anything just to keep up with almost every other stadium in the league, and every other big stadium in world football.

VAR is administrators interfering with the game that they just dont understand we need better Referees no more Tech. In the England game the Ref missed clear penalties right in front of him just yards away they have stopped refereeing and are relying on Var to correct their mistakes its killing the games spontaneity for fans.

If Oliver had given us a pen and waved Arsenals away VAR wouldnt have got involved either.

The bar they set is stupidly high and puts too much weight on what the refs original guess was.

Football either needs to embrace tech or f**k it off. You could see the blokes arm in the unnatural silhouette IFAB talks about and you can you could see the faintest touch on Jesus followed by a delayed fall to the ground with added theatrics.

Let's face a few facts here. Football as we know it now is broken.
      VAR is a complete mess.
      UEFA are corrupt.
FIFA are corrupt ( Don't get me started on this year's World Cup)
The fair play system is a complete joke.
      Player transfers are getting stupid.
      Players wages are going nuts.
The FA are allowing people to buy clubs that have no right to, so I am putting the FA in the corrupt column as well.
All in all it is a complete cluster F**k.

After saying all of that has anyone got any ideas how to sort it all out, or is it so broken it is beyond repair ?

Yeah, read some sh*t like that too. Something about Sakha not being able to be seen in the picture at the time the ball was kicked. Ummm is this not the Greatest League in the World? Do we not have like a Bizillion cameras watching everything they do? How is this possible?

I said it at the time not sure why they didnt check it. Sunday on reflection was affected massively by poor decisions so not such a big gap after all in quality

So if we get our penalty they are denied there's and the goal gets knocked off for offside we win 3-1 I'll take that.

Do you know what the phrase "it can't happen" means? Does anyone?

The ref on the pitch is in charge, not the VAR. The VAR has as much power in the game as a linesman. The only power he has for subjective decisions, is to recommend an on field review, that is it. He's there to assist the ref on the field, not re ref the game for him.

The ref saw the contact by Thiago and made his decision. The only way it's going to be reviewed/overturned is if there's no contact at all, but sadly there was so the VAR is not going to step in, and we'll just have to take it.

Four years ago we didn't have VAR, and we were robbed of a win there by a perfectly good goal ruled out for a fictitious offside, and we fell 1 point short of winning the league at the end of the season. So I would rather have the system we have now and have benefitted from, in 3 of our last 5 games.

Do you know the phrase "Anchoring bias psychology affects decision making"  An anchoring bias is a faulty heuristic which occurs in decision making.
People (in this case VAR officials) make inaccurate final estimates (judgements) due to unconsciously applying greater value to the initial/earlier, or original judgement. Basically it's a natural function of the brain (The primacy effect) that we rely too heavily on pre-existing information (in this example the ref's initial call is the anchor) The reasons why we adopt these heuristics is both complicated and simple. A subjective decision is determined by multiple factors, referred to scientifically as noise.
Since VAR operators are human, these unconscious bias decisions will continue as all humans are subject to noise.

We've got VAR now divvy and still getting robbed of decisions and you're permanent defence of it especially after the Arsenal decisions is nothing but pathetic.
