I'm half expecting Pep to play 3-5-2 considering he left both strikers out of the derby.

Good shout!! No doubt Sane and Sterling as the "wing backs" pushed up as wide forwards to make it 4 attackers and really stretching us. F**k, I am not sure how to deal with this? Anyone have any ideas? Do we just hit them on the counter or just press high?

I've seen good performance after good performance from our team in this competition. Yes we are playing a top opponent but we showed Wednesday (and a while before that) we more than belong with them. This group delivers. We WILL score and they are NOT going to score 5 on us again.

      Can't wait.

Remember him doing something similar at Barcelona in the 2nd leg v inter milan when unbelievably he left dani alves out. Inter just sat in for 90 mins, something that would fill me with dread. Think we have to be brave and look to isolate the likes of otamendi who struggles against pace

Dunno whether their defeat yesterday is a good or bad omen :-\

The only way we will lose this game/tie is if we completely implode or suffer a red card(again)
We did a job on them for the whole of the second half last Wednesday so we need to do exactly the same.
I do think we'll miss Henderson's closing down so Gini/Milner need to take over.
Now, I'm not expecting us to park the bus for the whole game, far from it, but so long as we stay focused and capitalise on their weak back line when we get the chance I feel we have the strength to see this one through.

It's gonna be a proper nail biter though especially in those first 20 mins when we can expect the kitchen sink thrown at us.

Just hope the bizzies sort the route out for our team bus correctly into the ground as I fear repercussions  :o

If we can score 1, and I think we can, then we can score 2, thats when they will leave spaces, but if we dont fight till the end, we are done for.  First to the ball,as always etc.

I think 2-2 at City. They will be attacking so much, they'll need to leave spaces at the back and Salah will exploit that space. 5-2 on agg.

If we sit back and try to defend from the outset it'll be suicide. We need to start like we did at Anfield, with ferocious pressing. Don't give them a moment on the ball, wear them out both physically and emotionally. The longer it goes on the less they're going to believe and that plays into our hands.

Trio of decent articles on the upcoming match here.

On why Liverpool should attack and not sit in, based on the City loss to United: https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2018/apr/08/manchester-city-pep-guardiola-united-liverpool

" If Liverpool were even thinking about parking the bus on Tuesday this result should make them reconsider. Their opponents have just conceded six goals in 180 minutes."

From Liverpool perspective on the newfound reliability of our defence: https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2018/apr/07/Jürgen-klopp-defence-manchester-city-liverpool-return-second-leg

Liked this quote especially at the end: "It turns out Liverpool do not live in the past after all. Nor are they like Manchester United in the way they approach the Champions League knockout stage. Liverpool come alive in Europe, standing taller than ever. Now City are facing a taller order than they must have anticipated, it is their turn to show they can do the same."

From the City POV (how the loss to United might affect them on Tuesday: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/apr/08/pep-guardiola-manchester-city-hangover-cure-liverpool-champions-league

"Asked if the memory of City’s collapse on Saturday could affect players’ minds if they were to go two ahead again, Guardiola said: “It’s difficult – difficult for our mood not winning and, yeah, that can happen. But maybe we will improve for the future regarding this – and realise that sometimes it is not enough what you’ve done [and need to do more] to win."

Maybe two if Moreno is still out and Camacho has to come in. However, if a midfielder is injured, I would expect either a change in formation and/or TAA moving to midfield (or Moreno) and then Clyne coming in at right back. Not ideal, but I think better than putting a 17-year old in for his debut in the middle of a tight Champions League quarterfinal.

It is obviously important, that he is fit. Seems a good decision to rest him against Everton on Saturday. Bearing in mind Chelsea also dropped points yesterday.
