So just a point needed now somehow I don't think Jürgen will put out a team that isn't absolutely on fire.
Top 4 and a CL win will be extraordinary.

Great result for us tonight. I don't see us failing to get a draw at home against Brighton. Come out fast, score first, then just keep the ball.

      Thank you Terriers.

Chavs have to win at the Toon and we need to lose at home against Brighton.

      Could have been worse.

Spurs have a tricky one after the Foxes took down the Arse tonight.

      Just said similar.

      Reason to Believe.

Bruce Springsteen or Rod Stewart though.......;)

Rafa can get atleast a point. Newcastle have done well at home over the last couple of months.

Yeah, it's just incredibly sad that it's gotten to this point.  If we had gotten VVD last summer, and replaced Coutinho in January, we would likely be fighting for 2nd rather than 4th.  Not sure who to blame for this failure but I hope we finally show some ambition and address the squad deficiencies this summer.

I don't think 4th can be considered in anyway a failure looking at Chelsea and Arsenal who would swap with us in a heartbeat.
The CL has clearly diverted the teams attention and understandably so with us having such a small squad.
We don't do easy sit back and relax performances in important games but I think we will see something of a return to form on Sunday and a full strength team.

Let mighty Mo loose on them Sunday.  We're at home so let's give the fans a performance in the last game. 4th is fine by me there's no qualifing round now so let's for once releave the pressure on ourselves and stick it to them and not worry about what Newcastle can do to help us out against the chavs. We need to be going into the CL final without pressure on us that we need to win it to get back in the competition for next season. It back fired on us in the europa league so let's not put anything to chance. We have a good 2 week break before the final to prepare so let's use it worry free.

Mate, the main reason we aren't duking it out for 2nd with ManU is cos of all those extra midweek CL games we've had to go through  ;D

That's my point though.  Jürgen has been complaining about a small squad and injury problems late in the season for 2.5 years now.  Either he messed up by not bringing in more bodies, or the owners are to blame for not giving him the money.  This isn't a new problem, and it's a joke a club of our size and stature has to fill the bench with U23 players in a CL semifinal.

Very pleased for Huddersfield, plus it takes a tonne of pressure off us because even if Brighton park the bus, not that I think they will, we'll be ok.

I have not seen him complain, I have seen him comment on the subject.

Just like our mid-fielders with no injuries how many are we supposed to carry?...Hendo, Gini, Can, Lallana, Ox, Milner....what we need 3 more midfielders?

He let Coutinho go, it was his decision and he made it..he also states he does not want filler..he want's specific players not just anybody.

He let Origi & Sturridge go out on loan and chose to keep Solanke and Ings...Origi looking pretty good right now compared to those 2.

Great result in the Huddersfield game but looking at the Brighton game it looks like they're not quite on the beach yet so still some work to do for us.

For sure, we mustn't be complacent but needing a draw at home to a team with nothing to fight for is a hell of a lot easier than having to beat a geordie team who will be desperate to round off the year with a win in front of their own fans.

Yeah , but if we draw 0-0 against Brighton and Chelsea beat Newcastle 16-0 then Chelsea gets forth spot   :f_whistle:

Wouldn't say pressure is off, but I feel Chelsea will rest players (Cup final vs Utd) so they could settle for the draw as it is unlikely we will lose, or Newcastle may beat them, but We need the win at Brighton to make sure...

We are playing at home not at Brighton and I seriously doubt Conte is going to rest anybody for that cup.

Crazy indeed probably just goes to show how off form we were against the Chavs.

Clearly chavs had a different team set up, as they thought they were gonna cruise through this one.

But if he went out and bought a load of dead wood just to make the numbers up you'd still be moaning. He clearly goes for a player he wants, and if he's unavailable he waits, or at least waits to identify another  of similar ability.
Rogers bought just what was available when he couldn't hit his targets and look how he got ridiculed.  By me mostly
