I agree but what an amazing fake it would be from us if there actually wasn't anything wrong with Fekir but we just acted like there was to unsettle the player and push down the value, that would be genius/evil level transfer dealing.

That would also be too clever by half, or cutting off our nose to spite our face - choose your metaphor.

If he had a reliable knee he's be with us now. Unfortunate for him.

Can't see this deal happening this window.

      ... and it didn't.

      We move on.

There weren't any European clubs showing interest though, only us and Chelsea (if you believe their journos).

This kid is tainted now. Any club is going to wonder why we pulled out and will likely be cautious as well. Sucks for him, that's for sure.

I well remember L.eeds pulling out of a deal to sign Asa Hartford from West Brom many years ago because a problem with his heart showed up on his medical. It did not stop Man City from signing him where he was a big success. So where one club might see a problem it does not mean other clubs will see it the same way.

Had a hole in his heart Billy - Asa that is.

Pretty sure this deal is all about the fee / structure.

Fekir will be a red in Jan if we want him.

That is how I remember it as well Al,he was a good player and his heart condition never seemed to affect him.I suppose we will have to wait for Fekir to retire to find out what really happened with the transfer/medical.

In the end I feel like logic prevailed. On one hand, it was too risky to pay that much money and end up with an injury prone player and on the other hand, there simply was no direct alternative to him that we could get.

Every player of the same caliber playing his position was either going to go for an absurd amount of money or simply not going to be let go by his club.

Add to this the fact that Klopp takes months to identify the correct target he wants in order to make sure he is getting the right man and this outcome makes perfect sense.

Maybe by January Klopp will have identified another target or it will go to next summer.

I'm perfectly happy with that. We don't exactly habe RM or PSG money lying around and so it's important to make sure that when we splash cash to get a player its the right one.

Pearce has an article in the Echo that says our interest ended June 8 and we won’t be going back in for him. His medical history is too much of a risk.

One thing I will not criticise is the owners not buying players who have no sell on value or players that present any sort of risk of injury prone careers. Just look at Danny and how much per goal he has cost over the last 2 or 3 seasons.

One would think about looking into Fekir's medical history before making an offer & getting the lad to wear a red jersey & promo circus... 😂

      Right?

Kind of foolish how we went about this. He goes on to say that much like Allison and VVD and Keita, Jürgen only wanted Fekir which is why we didn’t go in for anyone else.

      Take it as you will.

Huh? We didn't know the extent of the damage before we did the medical, how could we?

Everything i have heard and read was the knee is not an issue today, the issue is the type of repair done that leads to future problems....i am sure we had some preliminary medical info but evidently LFC had 2-3 different specialists come in and after they saw the new scans all of them were thumbs down.
