I only managed to catch 1 pre-season match (Torino) and I can't say he had a brilliant game.

He was OK, looked slow and a bit cumbersome, and a fair few misplaced passes.
Not bad, but not great either.

I'll see how he gets on over the course of the season, and go from there.

Personally thought he had a strong game and kept the team ticking which was partly the reason why we were so good in possession vs Torino.

As for the other matches, his performances has been pretty much the same as what you have seen vs Torino. I believe Fabinho has been a key factor to why we have been so controlling in pre-season.

I agree with you, I'm puzzled why people thought he had a poor game, he's one of those players who is so relaxed on the ball he almost looks lazy, but his passes and control are fantastic and I think he will just get better and better. BTW yes I know we have only seen him in preseason so far but its against some fairly good teams, especially the last few games.

Deffo one of the main reasons that we've spent most of our matches pre season in the opponent's half.

He very rarely passes back which is massive. You can see as soon as he gets the ball he either tries to turn and run forward or pass forward.

Also the majority of his passes are to someone moving up the pitch either a runner on the wing or an attacker.

I think he will help us dominate the play in the opponent's half this season which is going to massively take the burden off the defence.

Just imagine Hendo was in his position in that first half, most of them passes he played would have gone straight back to a defender in my opinion which instantly sends us back a few yards and invites the opposition team up a bit.

But we just keep them pinned back because as soon as he gets the ball he puts it back into their half. They literally have no time to get out.

I've got a feeling he will be the most influential signing of the summer for us.

Fabinho prepared to battle for midfield place at Liverpool
Fabinho has stressed he knew there would be a battle for places in Liverpool's midfield when he joined this summer and believes it is good for the team.

The Brazilian, recruited from Monaco, is still waiting to make his competitive debut for his new club, having been an unused substitute for the 4-0 Premier League opening day win over West Ham on Sunday.

The midfield selected by boss Jürgen Klopp to start the contest featured James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho's fellow new signing Naby Keita, while Jordan Henderson came off the bench.

Fabinho, who had had a minor injury and been unwell in the build-up to the game, told Premier League Productions: "When I came to Liverpool I knew this competition would exist in midfield and I think it's really good for the team.

"If anything happens to a player, there's adequate cover. During pre-season I played alongside a variety of different players and we blended really well. So, overall, I think it's a good thing for the team."

Fabinho was involved in all nine of Liverpool's pre-season friendlies and he feels he has done well while adjusting to a new playing style.

"I think my performances have been good," the 24-year-old said."It's a different playing style than at Monaco; there were two of us in midfield there and here at Liverpool there's three.

"My midfield partners have given me guidance and assistance, as have the defence. I knew (my role) would change and I feel I've adapted well.

"You seek guidance and help from the players around you and that has worked really well up until now. It has been really good since I arrived here.

"The players and the coaching staff have been brilliant. I have been able to fit in really well with the club, the training and games we've played have been good."

He is gonna really need to up his game after that performance by Wijnaldum vs West Ham!

Competition for places, boss! At long last. I remember when Klopp took over, our squad depth was non existent.

I hope so!!! Might be handy vs Crystal Palace on Monday with their long balls to Benteke.

Wouldn't surprise me if we set up with 2 in front of defense, and Keita in front of them.

Fabinho and Henderson are both tall/big lads, and playing 1 staggered in front of the other would give us an extra layer of defense.

However, I'm more concerned about Zaha than Benteke.

Wouldn't throw him in from the start at Palace. Too much of a risk for a debut.

See no reason to change our team. Let teams alter the way they set up to try stop us, not the other way around!

What risk, he played almost the entire preseason, against better opposition than Palace, and looked fantastic. If he's fit I'd start him at Palace, no problem.

The risk that after a good start, we go to a tricky place like Palace change the line-up and don't get the result we want, wouldn't do much for the lads confidence.

Just don't see how you can drop any of our midfielders from the opening day. All played very well. No point whatsover in changing the team.

Yes they played well but West Ham were crap and in that game, in this game against Palace we probably need a bit more defensive cover so a specialist DM might just help I think, Henderson could also be an option.

With them sitting so deep and probably giving us little space, perhaps the better option would be to have a deeper midfielder capable of shifting the ball quick and decisive into tight areas? Fabinho, Keita and Wijnaldum are more than capable doing that.

Naby, Fab, Ox are the future. As for Palace, it would be a disservice to drop Milly or Gini after such a dominant display.

Interesting one this. Any guesses on when or where we will see him make his full first team debut? Also, what do we think can he bring to the midfield that we didn't have today?

I think after the international break - he will have a good ten days training and expect it to be the Chelsea games he comes in

I am suspicious. The guy cost a fortune and is not even on the bench in our 4th game? Klopp has a tendency to be coy about inside failures: Buvac and Ox' injury are prime examples. I had my first suspicion when Fab was crushed in a sprint against City in a preseason game. He looked old and slow. My guess is he's sick, e.g. with glandular fever, and they don't want to rush him back.
