He was way off for the first 15 -20 mins gave the ball away got caught with it not knowing who was around him but what a transformation from then on in he was just a one man wrecking ball just loved his performance he is going to be something else

All players were off the pace in the first 20 minutes I thought. Fabinho wasn't helped in that he was bizarrely given the ball by Gomez twice while he had a man on him. Blind play by Joe could have cost us there but didn't.

Got better as game went on made some good tackles and certainly looks for the forward pass more than Hendo or Gini.  Nice easy game to step into let's see how he does when he plays against better midfields

Seen a few posts like this, using a good showing from Fab to stick the boot into our captain. Sad really.

Be a shame to have multiple good players at multiple positions right?

Reminds of Bob Paisley talking about signing Kenny.

I’m paraphrasing but went something like this.......

“I’d have signed him even if Kevin had still been here. Imagine we’d had ‘em both, I mighta won something”

      Followed by a hearty laugh.

      Beautiful.

NB: comparing neither Hendo or Fab to the King or KK.....just to be crystal.

he got mugged a few times nothing to do with passes he wasn't aware who was around him.
The transformation though was incredible he is going to be an incredible player for Liverpool we have some squad now.

We still have OX to come back too so we should have players fresh enough now at the end of the season to win something as I think we ran out of steam last season with a couple of games to go .
I wonder how we will line up in midfield at next years CL final ;D

Some were poor passes into him, one I can remember straight away is Gini selling him short

One in particular looked like he was slow initially but he desperately needed either a shout or an offer and appeared to get neither.......

I think he, instinctively, wants to look up and pick a pass whereas all our current mid - whether you rate or not - play it off very quickly or carry it.

Showing by the way he adapted last night I think he’ll be just fine......

I've never had any doubts about this lad, he just needed some time to adjust to our system, same as Robbo and Ox last season.

I'm just salivating thinking of a midfield three of Fabinho, Keita and Shaq with very able backup from Lallana, Ox, Wijnaldum, Henderson and Milner. The only area where we still need one more player is in attack, although Sturridge is doing a fine job as backup at the moment.

Fabinho did well in the two alongside Gini and we now have 6 very good players to fill those three roles against different opposition using different tactics

So many great options ahead now and when you add in the front 5 guys it’s going to be a cracking season

A good run out for the lad against mediocre opposition.

He seems a bit slow on the turn, his pace off the mark isn't great (looks OK once he gets up to speed), going to ground in the tackle all the time will invariably cost him (and us).

Decent passing, looked like he had good awareness, strong and tenacious.

He needs a bit more time yet to really gel with the other lads, but some good signs from him.

Noticed many saying how mediocre Red Star were, well this is the same team that held Napoli to a draw!

A bit disrespectful for a team who qualified for the CL by knocking out Salzburg and holding Napoli to a draw, who incidentally completely dismantled us!

They weren’t great - very poor at the back , clumsy on the ball in the middle

It was a nice opposition to play when you are searching for goals - clearly a 4th spot team you get in most groups
