Great goal yesterday and great performance.  It was a Steven Gerrard beauty that one.

Interesting looking back at his stats with Monaco where he would regularly be weighing in with goals.  About 1 in every 4 or 5 games over his last three season there.

I obviously wasn't an avid follower of his career at Monaco but I assume he played further forward there or maybe took set pieces?

He did take set pieces there, including penalties. In fact I think he had a perfect record with pens in his final season there. He took one in a preseason game for us last season, the one in Dublin, and missed. I don't think he took another one until the Charity Shield this season (which he took very well, btw).  I don't reckon he's going to get the ball from Millie or Mo, however.

As for style of  play, Monaco used twin holding mids most of the time so he and the other guy (no idea) would alternate on going forward or staying back. But to me, as the season has gone one, while there is no questioning his importance to our defence, we still see him creeping forward and being part of the attack, yesterday being the poster child of examples.

Just finished watching the game again and, along with a number of finer points, my big takeaway is....

      Any updates on Fab’s ankle...?

Being as he is banned against Brighton the rest may work in our favour..

Not “too “ bad, thought be a lot worse, since everyone was talking about ligament damage, but, nothing official yet

Not good but we should be able to cope, Hendo or Milner can play that role then we get the added bonus of Klopp being forced to play an attacking midfielder.

On what planet can Milner play the Fabinho role?

He has played DM in the past hasn't he so this planet, in any case Hendo is perhaps the most natural replacement for Fabinho, but I reckon Milner could do it as well and how about pushing Virgil or Joe Gomez into that role? My point being that yes we will miss Fabinho but we have the squad to cope.

Could miss 10 games!!!It’s pathetic to say, cos injuries are going to happen, but i really worry these are the sort of things we just cant afford. Just don’t think we’ve the depth.

Cause Gini could not go in and do it with Chamberlin/Keita in front?
Cause Gini couldn't do it with Hendo and Shaqiri in front of him?
Cause Hendo could not step into the 6 with Gini and Ox in front?

JFC how many midfielders do we have? no depth?

Are you kidding me?! Chamberlain who looks wildly inconsistent?! (Which is totally fair)  Keita who’s made of cheese and barely kicked a ball this season?! Shaqiri likewise and many think is on the way out?

We dealt with Alisson out, we'll deal with this.

Next man up. Gini can do a job. Klopp apparently believes in Lallana in the 6. Going to need Naby to fill Ginis role. Ox is gonna show off too. YNWA

Have you forgotten that Fabinho has only played regularly for us for about 1 season, we survived before him and will survive now. Yes he'll be missed but we'll adapt, we have Hendo who can play that role to a reasonable degree and at a push I'd argue Gomez or Virgil could as well although I'd be nervous about moving Virgil out of defence.
As others mentioned Lallana and Wijnaldum can also play the role and that frees up the midfield to have an extra attacking player

Rumours are that it's 4-6 weeks, fingers crossed that it's closer to the 4 as he'll be needed for Leicester in a month's time. Hopefully Keita will be allowed a decent run in the team once we've shuffled the midfield around to cover Fab's absence. He's been desperate for football lately but hasn't seemed to get a look in. Whether that's still down to his previous injury or Klopp just doesn't fancy him who knows

On what planet can Milner play the Fabinho role?

Wijnaldum and Henderson rotated in there after Fabinho went off.

My guess is that the same will happen while Fabinho is out.

Oh, and stop having meltdowns based on rumours. (haha, just noticed this looks like it was aimed at you. My bad, it was for the drama queens :) sorry for any confusion)
Wait for the word from Klopp, go from there, and remember we have decent cover.
