I think so. I believe that WC is going to have like 48 teams, or something crazy like that, so probably won't have much of an impact having those 3 in the final stage, Mexico and USA are usually in the WC anyway.

It's awesome the NA bid won for the 2026 world cup. I believe most of the games will be in the US so look forward to seeing a few games. My kids will be 11 and 14 so they'd be old enough to enjoy the experience.

Yup, 60 of 80 games on US soil, including all matches from the quarterfinals onward, with the finals at Metlife Stadium in NJ, only a couple hours from me  ;D

Hope Mexico have a few games at and get to do up the Azteca Stadium.

Always looks absolutely majestic when you watch the old World Cup films from 1970 and 1986.

Current breakdown per the article i read is 60 games in US, 10 in Mexico and 10 in Canada. Given the history of the Azteca it's a guarantee it will be awarded a bunch of the 10 games to be played in Mexico.

Happy to see Canada get in on the World Cup, only real way for us to qualify for it haha. I am looking forward to taking in a few of the games in Toronto and Montreal.

They haven't decided yet apparently. Mexico and US "shouldn't" need auto bids (well who knows about the Americans) but Canada I would think will get one possibly because they won't qualify otherwise.

Unless they're changing the rules again, the hosts usually qualify automatically, plus aren't they including more teams from the next World Cup, so can't see it being a problem including Mexico, Canada and the US.

Yea the hosts qualify, but wasn't sure if we've had a multi-host deal before, so what I'd read was that they weren't sure how they were going to handle it.

They are bumping up the number of teams though so maybe it takes care of itself.

Yeah both Japan & South Korea automatically qualified as hosts back in 2002 and as said I know they changed it so the holders have to qualify, but don't remember any change in the rule by FIFA that the hosts don't have to qualify.

Im absolutely flying about this. I'm  already making plans to follow and travel with the "Outlaws".  Maybe even catch an Ireland match. I went to the Irish/Italy match at the Meadowlands in 94' and it was amazing. The Irish contingent was insane. So were the Italians. The pre match parties in the lot were fantastic. The 2 biggest nationality groups in NY/NJ are Irish and Italian so it was a big deal. The Irish won and I watched Roberto Baggio in the World Cup.

They've totally gone about the 48 team format wrong.  16 groups of 3 is a bad idea because you will have a team not playing for the first 10 days or so of the tournament, probably even more.  I'd say they are already at a significant disadvantage.

Should have had 12 groups of 4 and allowed the 8 highest ranked 3rd placed sides into a last 32 knockout.

16 teams going the World Cup to play just two games?  More massive expense for the fans IMO.

With a 48 team bracket, i hope that wont be an issue.

Watching Scotland v USA would be a good world cup match in 2026.

I get that it is not the best, but highest ranked teams is a flawed thing.
Imagine goal difference against easier teams getting teams through.
They should have had 64 teams instead of 48.
It's just one more game if last 32 will be the first knockout game, instead of last 16
Just have more games on during group phase, 6 a day instead of 3.
