Had a couple years in a row of opening away from home haven't we? Surely a home one coming soon. Though I do much prefer finishing the season at Anfield so whatever. Really not too arsed. Would be pretty happy with an Arsenal or a Chelsea to start with to be quite honest, get the lads into the trenches real early.

A very kind start to the season, no reason for not picking up 9 pts from fixtures in August.

Last game of the season against Wolves.

4 game spell from middle of September that has Spurs (A), Chelsea (A), Man City (H).

Yeah it's a must really looking at September and then the first game in October

Think we will have an idea of a title chance by that point

Key block of games is the six game block between the 2 international breaks in Sep / Oct

      September

                  International Break

      15 – Tottenham Hotspur (A)
18/19 September: Group stage, matchday one
      22 – Southampton (H)
      29 – Chelsea (A)

      October
2/3 October: Group stage, matchday two
      6 – Manchester City (H)

                  International Break

3 of the "Big 6" - two of which are away, and two Champions league games. Go strong and hard in that block and we could set things up very nicely for the season

Confirmed now that Spurs away will be their first game at WHL.  They have been given permission to have two home stadiums in the season as they will have had a game at Wembley.

September is looking a bit tough but its a nice start and nice finish. Oh and Citeh away on boxing day is a bit brutal as well but the rest of Jan looks good.
Overall very happy with that but we need to build momentum through Aug, maximum points.

Good start & a good finish imo, it won't matter much cos i reckon it'll be a two horse race with us and City and whoever loses most points will come Bridesmaids,

Can't see Scum, Chavs Spuds being above us or City but they will of course be influential in taking points off either,

I honestly believe that this is our time now, JΓΌrgen has/is remedying our shortfalls from last season, he has 2/3 of a new dominant midfield to support our already world class attack, he will add a new CB for Virgil and hopefully a new keeper(Oblak 😉) to complete the spine, add one or two support players in key areas and I'm telling you we will be challenging City for that Title.

That is going to cause havoc in football leagues all over the world. Classic monument to the greed and corruption of FIFA. But at least it has re-introduced western society to the great benefits of indentured servitude and forced labor. Still feel like this would be a proper occasion for federatons, or even national governments to just say "No. We aren't participating if it is there."

On the fixture list, putting the Arsenal and City matches so close to together during the festive season is just not right. I wonder if any of the other big six have two of their showdown matches so close together. Pretty sure I know the answer.

We definitely have a chance to make a quick start but after the World Cup everything could easily be a bit hit and miss.

Home on the first day for the first time since 2014. Home on the first and last day for the first time since the title race went to the final game.

Away to Spurs as the first game in their stadium was one I specifically wanted to avoid. No such luck. And it's about time we were away to the mancs first, but we'll have to wait another year for it, so another busparking task awaits us in 6 months time. Burnley away on a midweek in December, you'd want to avoid that as well, while the barcode bus in Newcastle is not the most ideal last away game, especially if we're still in Europe.

Chelsea away is out of the way early, City at home is a chance to lay an early marker down. December has 4 big home games, before we go to face City. And the last game is at home. It's the first time we've had the last day at home, three years in a row, that I can remember. But a nice one to finish if a result is needed.

Overall not bad, not perfect, but better than last season. Hopefully we'll take advantage of it.

Even taking out that amazing Champions League run, I really enjoyed last season. Even though we finished 4th I think we played some really great stuff and the squad finally endeared themselves to me. We've made a good platform to launch ourselves further up the table for this 2018/2019 season. Looking forward to pre season getting underway in a few weeks and seeing JΓΌrgen and co back in action.

Mid September to early October jumps out as a challenging part of the season.

Not a bad set of fixtures though, better first couple of games than Arsenal that’s for sure.

Can only imagine the chaos caused by a winter break and the qatar world cup

The winter break is really only going to see us miss one weekend of games and with the lack of replays in the League Cup and the fact that the season will finish a week later I can't see it having any impact really by then or for the Euro's in 2020.

Apologies - yeah the Qatar world cup - that season will be grim.  The only positive is that we won't be able to immediately go out and buy the El Hadji Diouf of the tournament.

Think Wenger cast his spell on Arsenal Fixtures  City the Chelsea nice for the new manager to here shouts of sacked in the morning by the third game.

Think it will work differently really.  Arsenal had such a bad season last year that anything they get from those games will be looked upon positively, although their problems last season were really away from home.

Feel for Rafa, terribly tough start. Four top 4 contenders in his first five games.

I’m pretty happy with ours however, we aren’t the greatest on opening day, but hopefully being at home that will change.

Revised fixture list after the next international break:

      v Spurs (a)
      v PSG (h)
      v Southampton (h)
      v Chelsea (h)
      v Chelsea (a)
      v Napoli (a)
      v City (h)

Hope the players enjoy the break, because that's some serious schedule by the time the October international break comes around.

How about after the November break. Not much respite tbh.

      v Watford (a)
      v PSG (a)
      v Everton (h)
      v Burnley (a)
      v Bournemouth (a)
      v Napoli (h)
      v mancs (h)

Two games a week every week, before Christmas. So the full resources of the squad will be needed to help see us through.

You couldn’t sound more disappointed about us having 2 games a week. Grow a pair and stop being scared of other teams.

Every team battling for the top will be in the same position as well. Chelsea will have Europa league which is even rougher on scheduling I reckon, as far as time between matches. Potential injuries aside, we're in no different boat than anyone else.

Not to mention we follow every game in the group with a home game.

That can't be understated. I don't understand how we got so lucky to have it work out that way, but F***ing huge. Especially when coming back from Belgrade, a home match vs Fulham (which myself and the wife shall be at!) is, on paper, an absolute F***ing blessing from Fowler.

On the contrary. I love the busy schedules and see it as a sign of a successful side. The more the merrier.

Like most coaches, Klopp doesn't see it that way, and often tells us why having one game a week is great. While his record the weekend after European games is average at best, be it in either competition.

I hope we sweep the board, but if we don't, the first reason to explain why will be "tiredness" from the tougher schedule. It always is.

Spurs tomorrow. No Lloris. No Dele Ali. We're at full strength.

Who says it doesn't matter when you play the games? Of course it matters. And this one has worked out well for us. So far.
