A dive is essentially cheating to get awarded a free kick or penalty in the area.
So imo there is no difference in the fact if he tripped that he cheated by gladly accepting the penalty.

He could quite easily have told the red I tripped over would probably have made no difference but the fact that he didn’t is the same as diving in my book.
