I was watching Lloris in the World Cup semifinals before I switched to this. I've been told he's terrible though, and that our keeper is better. The same person also told me Donnarumma isn't very good. Oh crap, I'm not looking forward to this goalkeeping situation this season.

We should get rid of Firmino and replace him with Giroud since he also started today in the WC Semi's.

Firmino isn't in question though so that's a F**k wit point to make

I'm not a massive Hugo Loris fan but he's better than Karius

Soz like, I'll back him as one of our own but I also won't argue black is white

I know mate, Loris gets a proper panning in here, if you mention him you get laughed at and told he is no better than Karius! You couldn't make it up! He might have had a slightly shaky season for Spurs but he has been possibly the best goal keeper in this tournament. As for Karius hopefully today is further proof he isn't the answer and the back room team are busy trying to bring in a new man, at least that's what I keep telling myself.

its hard to compare goalkeepers especially when there is quite an age difference. Lloris however is a really top keeper and has performed really well at the WC

Curtis jones has done ok but Origi seems to have gone backward and why is Sturridge playing so deep

Almost a 4-2-4 we have played in these first two matches. Daniel was behind Divock today.

I think there genuinely could be a case of looking at him to play as a number 10 going forward. It could extend his career

He's lost pace but still has the brain, he sees things others don't

I don't think he'll ever be the number 9 he used to be and has to think of reinventing himself

      What a poor 2nd half.

I thought Woodburn was really the only one who played well, and glad to see that as he was quiet on Saturday. Curtis Jones was OK, and I was going to say that about Chirivella until he gifted that 2nd goal to Tranmere.

Sturridge had a couple of bright moments but was mainly quiet. This group in the 2nd half looked tired, overall (especially Milner).

I had high hopes for Origi to bounce back, but he has been disappointing so far.

Yup heard this a few places now...his vision and his touch alone would make him a decent 10...I think he is done running channels as a 9.

Perhaps I should, but it's not that difficult to do that about a player with over 300 career goals at 26... good luck convincing anyone that Karius is a top keeper and immensely difficult to replace.

The only thing Lloris has on Karius is longevity, as he has been around long enough to prove he's an OK goalkeeper so you know what you're going to get out of him, but being the starter for France in the world cup in no way means he's better than what he really is. Lloris has as many and big mistakes in him as any goalie you can think of.

If the world cup was indication of anything other than a small sample size, United and Bayer would be selling De Gea and Neuer and going after Pickford and Subasic.

That's an interesting idea. I feel so sorry about Sturridge, he's got the skills but we simply cannot rely on him. I would still expect him to leave the club before the start of the season tbh

I thought he would but I have been thinking

      • Would he get the wage he gets here as a move?
      • Would we get what we may want in a fee
•Can he still be a top class 9? I don't think so due to his body so will he have to reinvent himself? If he does is he better to stay here with better players around him rather than either trying to be a 9 at a sh*te club or being a 10 with poorer players around him as he learns the role?
•If he wants to continue would he be better taking this year to develop and get fit rather than rush a move with a dog sh*te manager still thinking  he's the player of 3 years ago asking him to run channels and giving him 35 games a year to get them away from relegation or whatever or would he be better to try to reinvent himself and should that go well he *could earn a new deal here? Worse case he doesn't but he gets to reinvent himself and then get a move as a free

I think probably we still look to move him on if we can get a replacement in first and a deal that suits us.
However people who I read saying, oh f**k him off to China they'd take him
What if he doesn't want that? What if he still sees himself playing in England and isn't as happy to write his career off?

Starting to get tired of going into football seasons with some doubts about our goalkeepers.

I wish Klopp was as well.

Be amazed if he lasts through pre-season, sad to say.

Surprised a newly promoted club hasn't taken a punt on getting him.  Even if he plays a handful or so of games, for that kind of side a few goals and a few points could make all the difference - even off the bench (although I may have said that before his West Brom move).

Thought he looked irritated in post-match interview on LFC TV.

The Tranmere fans gave a small taste of the kind of abuse Karius is going to get this season. That alone isn't a reason to make a move, but I am genuinely worried about this now more than ever.
