Shaq going to be a key player for us this season, love how he keeps the game flowing with his first passes, don’t seem to dwell on the ball much, just gets it out and spreads the play.. our forwards are going to love his supply ...

      Key to bus parking teams..

Agreed, imagine having Sturridge, Firmino, Salah, Mane and Shaqiri on at the same time?

      Just going for the throat.

How is that going to work? That will be too attack-minded and risky in my opinion.

I would play the second team next Tuesday. No need to risk anyone with full pre-season.

Our front three must be salivating at the thought of Shaqiri playing in midfield behind them. His range of passing and his aggression is something to behold.

This year with so many players only just being back from post World Cup holidays I think a fast start is going to be key. Of the others in the mix Pep Maureen and Poch have already been complaining about the number of players not available to them.

Good point. Weirdly the 3 players who are last to return for us are, lets face it, not the players we would cry about if they were missing.

Personally, I would be more excited to have Fabinho behind me than Shaqiri :D

I can see all 3 of them struggling initially, makes it even more important for us to get off to a flyer.

Definitely want to see 12 points from the four matches before the first international break. That's 10 percent of the Premier League season and we need to set the tone of beating the teams we are supposed to beat.

Why f**king not mate?! I don’t care about the display agiant West Ham though, 3 points is all I care about for now.

I'm sure we'll have a number of both type of matches, the squeakers where we just about win it with not our best performance, and the works of poetry where we drown our opponents in their own tears.

I didn't mean that to sound gruesome, it just came out that way.

Am guessing Jürgen will largely do this, but also that he will give a 15-30 minute runout for the likes of Mo, Sadio and Naby as it is supposed to be a fan-friendly occasion.

Players who will need a game include Trent, Lallana, Fabinho, Bobby, Sturridge and Shaquiri.

Lots of talent but not a lot of width in that side, particularly with a left footer on the right and a right footer on the left.

All in all you have to be pretty frickin happy with our summer and pre-season.

      - We have brought in some excellent signings with 2 (Keita & Alisson) and possibly 3 (Fabinho) going right into our starting 11. I would have liked to see one more (and we still may) come in but even still, it has been an impressive transfer window.

      - Our pre-season itself has been excellent, we are about to play our 8th game (I think that is more than all of our rivals) so the players have had the best possible preparation with very few injuries. Plus we had very few players away on late WC duty (only Henderson & Firmino were late-late back) so that's a big advantage over some of our rivals.

      - Performances in pre-season have been very good with just the one loss (which was fairly unlucky) and moral boosting wins over both Manchester sides. Plus the new signings have all looked the part and got off to encouraging starts. And Danny Studge has even got himself fit and scored 5 goals in the process!!!!

I can't fookin wait for Sunday to get here! Got meself a day booked in the pub and I think this is the most excited I have been gong into a new season since 2006!!!

Tonight's friendly I believe is a little unnecessary four days before the start of the Perm'...

I really don't care if we lose 5-0, 10-0, or 20-0 as long as all our players come through this unscathed
