Tonight's friendly I believe is a little unnecessary four days before the start of the Perm'...

I really don't care if we lose 5-0, 10-0, or 20-0 as long as all our players come through this unscathed
I get that mate but at the same time I don’t think our top hitters will play any longer than 45. We have a few players that are still needing game time and are unlikely to start on Sunday - TAA, Henderson, Lovren ...

Klopp, in his infinite wisdom, also mentioned that he did not want the new players overwhelmed by playing in front of a packed Anfield for the first time against West Ham. So this is a chance for them to experience this before the season starts.

Nothing wrong with with a competitive game mate, keeps the sharpness for the curtain raiser..

Agree. They can get injured any day in training, but we still do it.

I am curious as to how many of those he intends to name in the starting XI for Sunday will be in or in for long tonight.

True, but in training players are a bit more mindful of how they tackle

I suppose, but of course they can be injured in the West Ham game to the same effect. I would think the benefit of fitness and sharpness, especially for the second XI (not yet clearly defined I know), is the compelling reason for the game.

Personally, I would be more excited to have Fabinho behind me than Shaqiri :D

I think the front 3 might feel much better about not having to score 3/4 to win games and knowing that an off day when we score 2 will see us claim the points.

Lineup tonight illustrates a few things.

      1. Klopp must have wanted Sadio, Mo and Bobby to have more minutes together.

      2. We have 5 veteran centre backs on the roster and only one of them (Virgil) is fit to play at the moment. So Virgil who played 90 minutes Saturday is back out there tonight, paired iwth Phillips. George Johnston drafted into the squad from the U23s, having not trained with the first team so far this preseason.

Mate I understand everything you are saying, it's just that it is so weird, and unnecessary having a friendly so near to the start of the season, four days!!!

Hopefully all goes well because it looks like he is previewing the starting lineup for Sunday, minus an injured centre back.

My word that was an utterly sumptuous goal. Nigh on perfection. Beautiful seeking ball by Phillips, awesome touch by Salah, perfect pass by Firmino and a great run off and on the ball to finish by Gini. 10/10!

sh*te from Moreno, should have been way tighter than that.

Same typical mistake from Moreno. Drifts to the inside - time and time again he shows an utter reluctance to keep his man out wide. Poor poor intelligence.

It's not merely a 'chink in the armour' when Moreno is playing/defending. It's a full blown design flaw.
