      Brilliant news that

I hope he makes a full recovery

Can you imagine what it must be like to lose 3 months of your life? Not in terms of not being grateful to wake up and be conscious and hopefully everything the way it was for him but to have explained what he must have missed?
Last he knew was before the first leg against Anfield.. He didn't know how that's went.. that we made the final... Hey F***ing he'll he's probably the only Liverpool fan alive that doesn't think Karius is a bit of a soft c**t
What could have happened with his family? Pregancys, graduations....

Brilliant news though, I hope his life is what it was before

Because he was in a coma so long, it is most likely he will have permanent moderate disabilities.
It must be quite awful for him to be honest.

90% of brain injured patients who are vegetative for one month or longer will fail to improve to a state better than severe disability.

      https://www.braininjury.com/coma-brain-injury.shtml

I understand the optimism about full recovery guys, but it is very unlikely so that sucks.

Strange how important issues get pushed to the back of your mind. I’d not even realised Sean was still in a coma.
Good new he’s awoken though, and hopefully a full recovery will be the outcome.
His family must be elated, and the scum who did this, glad they’re not facing a murder charge, although attempted murder can still carry a life sentence. Let’s hope it’s implemented.

I think the family said at the time that they had requested privacy as he continues his recuperation.

Let's face it - if you're out for the count for that kind of period of time any recovery would likely be exceptionally slow, if at all.

He has now left the second hospital, and is now at his third hospital, the Irish state injury rehabilitation hospital, for what is expected to be a considerable period of time.

Having had experience of rehabilitation units following a head injury the treatment there should show a dramatic improvement in all aspects of Sean's condition.
Possibly looking at attending rehab for months.

The worst I've had is a 3 week concussion caused by temporary bruising of the brain... so I can't say my experience is as thorough as yours.. but articles written by respectable newspapers said he was unlikely to fully recover. I would have thought years rather than months to get near a suitable conative ability again right?

Rather think a three month coma eclipses any concussion claims.
Bruising of the brain although sounding rather trivial does entail permanent and usually irreparable damage and loss of whatever faculty is affected within that area of the brain.

Science has yet to discover a way of repairing bruising to the brain which effectively destroys brain cells, rehabilitation does what it says on the packet - try to overcome any loss with a greater effort from whatever components remain.

A period of rehabilitation whether it be one month, two or whatever is supposedly meant to prepare Sean for his return to a regular social order, his consultants would have thought it appropriate his treatment continue in such a manner, after which he may do occupational  therapy then hopefully gain suitable employment.
Sean's progress is entirely in his own hands and the glib phrase of ''you only get out what you put in" was never more suitable.

I agree with the throw them in the kop thing, but leave them how they left him,  obviously thats not gonna happen, but they need to be dealt with as Full. We had five years away, which was unjustified, THEY Came at us ,the lads responded, but people died, but that was not at the hands of LFC supporters, they ran to the fence and thats all. The law should take these to the hilt. Total  sh*t houses

From experience and very unfortunately the prospects for Sean in the long term are not too optimistic.
A younger person would have improved considerably more in the time frame in question and doctors would be expecting greater sensory and physical responses than Sean is displaying; his advanced years are his greatest obstacle

Did you guys read the report ? He's not the guy who hit Sean Cox. He's guilty of violent disorder 3 years.

I hope the bas**rds cell mates are all kopites.

The real sad part is the ambushstyle attack. Even worse that those c*cksuckers from Roma are still running around as if nothing happened. Very sad also that no mob stepped up and gave it to them right away, probably no die hard LFC fans were there. And the police as always...MIA.

The main perpetrators of the assault are now locked up, so they won't be able to attack anyone else for a long time. That is far more effective than our fans sinking to their level.

Our fans responded on the night how fans should, with intelligence, restraint and generosity. And still do. €67,000 raised for Sean, half from the game last week and the rest matched by the club.

Well done and thanks to all who contributed so generously.

Lovely lovely gesture from Roma, it would be nice if the millionaire owners, manager and players from our club matched it, beyond the £5000 from Jürgen, which whilst nice, doesn't really go that far.
BTW it could well be that LFC have donated already in which case fair play to them.

Small piece of justice for the Cox family.

Pales into insignificance against their suffering though.

3 years seems pretty generous, I'd given him 5 years  without early exit and I bet this c*cksucker doesn't have to pay a cent to Cox and couldn't anyway. That's usually the real blow that those people don't pay back, they just sit in prison.

BTW: How safe/unsafe was it in the hooligan era in the 70s/80s to visit a LFC game? Could u do it as long as not causing trouble or would the lone fact of a shirt from an opponent team make you a target?

In cases where the assault causes serious life changing damage the tariff should be set at a minimum of 5 years or even more. Less than that and the deterrent is watered down. Only a random thought as I have no knowledge of the Law in this area. But still.

To give you some idea panzer. I lived in L4 as s kid, family moved south and from the age of 17 I used to travel up for matches, some times with mates, sometimes alone. Hitched lifts, went on train, and later drive up, sometimes in car, 2-4 of us. Sometimes in a hired van with as many as 14. That was a weekender, getting a clean up at the pierhead washrooms, and putting on the glad rags to go on the town.
( Anyone remember The She Club 😁)
In all the years I went to games, I got set on by mancs while waiting outside kop turnstiles. Back to the wall, they just ran on to the punches. Then the police dragged them off and restored order.
Going home on train after Arse game and got approached by three reds supporters wanting to give me a beating thinking they had found a lone Arse fan. That was cleared up and I travelled back south with a load of noisy arse fans( they won) and not a bit of bother.
14 in a van, stopped at traffic lights in east lancs Road, asked some local lads where we could get a late drink and they fired punches through the window. I jumped out, and flattened three lads, the last one lying in the right hand lane while the lights were changing and the traffic held up. Gang of lads over the road heading my way so I went to open the back of the van to let my mates out to give me a hand and they were in their jocks getting into sleeping bags. Ffs now a gang rushes across the road to sort me out, I jump back in the van, lights on red, had to wait while these tw*ts were kicking sh*t out of the van so I raced off on the Amber, unfortunately hitting two as they tried to jump clear.
      Never gonna stop was I.
So in all those years, one scrap with scousers, one close call with scousers and one opportunity to batter a couple of mancs.
Apart from that, a few minor skirmishes that never led to anything.
I often wonder if anyone on here was with that gang on the east lancs road 😁

Not many replica shirts in the 70's people couldn't afford them. Going to the game you would avoid Stanley Park as the away fans would take that route to get to the Anfield road end. I do seem to remember UTD walking around the edge of Stanley Park trying to make a statement and in doing so left their coaches open to having their windows smashed. It was a violent era of football hooligans ,personally I never had any problems but you needed to be aware of your surroundings.
Incidentally Chelsea who we have on Sunday had some really violent thugs as fans and Stanley knives were used on a regular basis by them.
Going to the game now is just so safe in comparison.

Understandably, Martin Cox didn't take the City song about Liverpool too well. His response was to remind them, that it's only weeks since one of their own fans at a European tie ended up in hospital with serious injuries. But I suppose if you're a club without a heart or a soul, you don't have a memory either.

Remember, this is the club where the current FW POTY is, portrayed by the media as a role model, just 4 years after his adventures with nitrous oxide. He was on that plane and (as his club did) probably defends the song. Despite the official denials, everyone knows who and what it was referring to. So it seems, club employees singing about football fans who suffer life changing injuries or worse as banter, but say x to a non white Caucasian, and he recommends fines, points deductions, lifetime bans, and stadium closures be dished out, as that's clearly a much more serious issue to him.

First it was Chelsea fans singing about us, then it was Wolves fans, now it's City staff. It must be a fear of Liverpool. We just do our talking on the pitch.

We need to show everyone that we don’t stoop as low as this. Give City a rousing reception, but let’s not demean ourselves and this great Club by giving them yet another reason to criticise us! Let’s show everyone that we know how to support our team without resorting to anything that brings shame on our Club and City. Let’s beat them on the pitch! Could also be to do with current crisis as the other F***ing rats such as Jon Venables is trying to get released and the little shitbag who helped get rid of the gun the killed Rhys Jones is also up for release.

Fantastic for Sean, he’s been through the mill and back again, just shows the man’s resilience & determination, something akin to LFC itself, all the best to the man, he’s obviously a battler and we fellow Reds like that .
