      Pre-Match: Crystal Palace V Liverpool (20/08/18 - 8pm)
      Aug 16, 2018 08:54:34 am

Monday Night Football away to Crystal Palace. That brings back bad memories. None of our starting team suffered that infamous night and Dwight Gayle won't be playing either!

This is a real test. Selhurst will be bouncing and Palace will be confident after their opening day win also. I expect us to win with their players tiring as the game goes on. 3-1 Reds with Keita on the scoresheet at some stage!  :kop5cf8koxp6: :kop5cf8koxp6: :kop5cf8koxp6:

Palace are a dangerous team for us but we should have more than enough to beat them, but we have to stay 100% focussed all match.
Win this and I think we can really get on a roll.

I know!  Waiting till Monday bloody night!!

This will be a much more severe test of our credentials than the WH game.  Would take a narrow victory now and predict 1-0 or 2-1.

Really good game to test our midfield out vs a very organised defensive team.  They will most likely play 442 and probably double up on Salah and Mane all game! And with little space inbetween the lines, I wonder if we should look into a more offensive player than Milner in Shaqiri or Lallana?

Should be a tough game. Hopefully the additions to our squad will make a difference.  They will attack which will leave us space.

Surely this type of game is exactly why Klopp bought Shaqiri.

Following our performance against the hammers, I can’t think of any reason Jürgen might want to change his starting line up.
I think we go for the same, ( nobody deserves dropping after that performance) and am convince we will batter these. Gone for 0-3 and I think this will be the start of something truly awesome.
I go from cautious, to worried, to massively confident, all in half a day.
We do these and for some gut feeling, I think we will go on an unassailable run!
We can play, we can now defend, we can score from anywhere, we can dominate sides for 90 mins, and we’ve got quality on the bench.
Think this is our year, and more to follow.
I’m feeling now like I did in the 70s.
      Invincible 😊

I think we'll have the same lineup in defence and up top but the midfield will be different.

Henderson will probably come in for Milner and Gini may push up a little.

Think it's natural for LFC fans to dislike London teams or may be that should read it's natural for scousers to dislike London teams.

The plastics, ARSEnal, Spurs, Palace,QPR,Millwall,West Ham,Civil Service FC. What a shower, always a pleasure to do any of them. Think currently I dislike the Plastics the most. A bought and paid for club. It's fitting that Abramovich their owner started his business career selling plastic toys.

After putting West Ham to the sword Monday is the turn of Crystal Palace, whose main claim to fame is that they won the oddly named Zenith Data Systems Cup in 1991..

These day survival in the Premier League would be a major achievement. However they can muster a half decent attack when they are roused. Put them out of their misery, then contain them, leave them to squabble with the usual suspects for survival.

n.b..Palace beat those perennial losers Everton 4-1 in the final of the Zenith Data Systems Cup..

To me it makes sense to see what Shaq looks like as a attacking midfielder. It’s games like this that we struggle to break teams down. I would love to see his creativity brought in to the side. Before long we will really need it.

Loving all the optimism but we really need to temper it for at least 10 games.
Let’s keep the momentum rolling and start to integrate some of the other players when fit and see where we are in a couple of months.

I can see the same line-up as last week, very capable of getting the job done, Palace will offer a bit more of threat so be interesting to see how Gomez holds up and see what Alisson can do assuming they will get a few chances.

Never liked Palace away but in fairness we've dug out three good wins there under Jürgen.

I'd go same team again, Hendo and Fabinho should be made to wait for a chance considering how good our midfield was last week.

As ever, the key will be to score early and make them come out.
If we can do that, they're there for the taking.

I expect Hodgson to set up as usual with 2 rigid banks of 4, close together, and try to use Zaha and Benteke to hit us on the break.

They are usually well organised, and tough to break down, with terrific home support.

We have the players to do it, so 3-1 to us.

Would be surprised if Henderson isn't brought in for this. He can dictate a game far better than Gini, and I actually think Gini is better suited to home games, with Hendo suited towards the away fixtures.  I don't think Fabinho will feature until later in the season.

Always a tough game down there over the years and Monday's game will be no different.

The one man we need to keep quiet is Zaha. He's their top man so Trent/Gomez and Robbo need to keep tabs on him which I'm sure they will.

No silly mistakes and there's no reason why we can't do the job required on these and continue on with our journey.

Haven't heard/thought of them in a while. I always liked them, but they didn't get nearly the play over here that Simple Minds and Tears for Fears did at around the same time (different genres I know).

Don't know how many times I've mentioned Geldof over here, been asked who he was, answered "the singer in Boomtown Rats," get a blank look back and I just respond with "The guy who shaved off his eyebrows in The Wall."

      To Fatkopite  & RobbieZ

Best wishes to your Folks .

Can't understand why some are fearing going to Palace,
We are miles better than them and should not worry about them, they will worry more that's for sure,

Small tight ground with a racous support won't affect our boys as they may others, not saying its a forgone conclusion but if we play anywhere near our best they are well and truly fu**ed, they simply won't cope with our intensity, speed and power,
I'd be shocked if we don't get a result here, as for the team I'd think about tweaking it slightly,
Palace are more likely to have a stronger midfield than the bubble blowers so for me id put Henderson in for Gini, he's better equipped for putting the boot in and can find a pass to get in behind,

Really can't see them giving us too much grief and i think we will do these with relative comfort,...

      NB: Team no longer available

I would change Wijnaldum with Shaqiri because I think he can unlock their defense.

I bet Jürgen will stay with his 11 from last week. I just wonder what he does with Fabinho. The guy cost a fortune and shouldn't he be the same no-brainer for a starting 11 as Keita for that kind of money?

I think Jürgen will bide his time with Fabinho. Just cos he cost a fortune doesn't meen an automatic start. He will have to get used to our way of playing, which is different to the way Monaco played. The EPL is.physical and fast. I don't think it's worth risking him just yet. We had to wait for OX and Robertson to get up to speed and they turned out just fine. We have a strong midfield and no doubt he'll get his chance when he's ready.

If Palace sit on the edge of the box it will be to their peril,Keita will expose them and I expect Shaq to play a part in this match.Win this with a clean sheet and put 3 in their net and we go back to the top.

A lot of importance on this game already. Will be a massive boost if we can get 6 ahead of Arsenal and 3 ahead of the Mancs so early on. Especially with the Mancs and Spuds playing next week, could get ourselves into a good position after just the first few games.

Expect a very tough game tonight. Tried to keep my slagging of United yesterday to the bare minimum as we could lose this one.

This game is the perfect test to show where we are at this season. West Ham at home was great but those are games we win anyway.

We won their last year but a game at Selhurst under lights is a different test.

Anything could happen in a football match but if we lose this I will be extremely surprised, we all have this fear of them after the 3-3 under Brendan but in recent times we have a good record against them and I expect that to continue tonight.

      1-3 to us I think.

We aren't going to lose this. This should be a cruise. I've gone for 3-0.

Do people not realize who we are yet? This team (with Salah) would have won the Champion's League, I fully believe it....and now we have Keita and Fabinho and Shaqiri along with Lallana and Sturridge fit again?

      Pffffftttttt......we should walk this game.

      Destroy the Owl.

      NB: Team no longer available

Had this game come a couple of weeks later, this team would've made perfect sense but dont think Fab is gonna start. It'll probably be Hendo or Gini.

Against sides like these that use both height and width, Fab can drop back and make a back-3, that allows TAA and Robbo to push up and counter their wingers/full backs, amply aided by Milner and Keita on their respective sides. Fab together with Virgil can also win a lot of headers, partly negating their aerial threat. Will be interesting to see if Jürgen starts Fab tonight.

Just about to donate blood. Hope I get some good karma from this with a win tonight.
If I donated blood the recipient would be completely smashed.  Stumbling around and wondering where they were 😂😂😂

Exactly how I'd go. Fabinho could be important by dropping back into the back to make a 3 if needed.

Tricky game this but like you say let's destroy the owl.

      Love them.

I'm wondering if Jürgen is going to surprise us in anyway this evening. Shaqiri or Sturridge starting maybe?

Looking forward to the game as I missed last week.

All the worries about them scoring and Zaha on the break etc. They don’t really have the midfield to out play us. I think the service to their strikers will be very limited.
Usually very cautious with these games, but I think Jürgen realises what sort of statement a convincing win would make. Not only to our opposition, but to our own players collectively.
I’m still confident of a solid performance with a clean sheet.
      0:3 the red men.
