The 2018–19 UEFA Europa League is the 48th season of Europe's secondary club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the 10th season since it was renamed from the UEFA Cup to the UEFA Europa League.

The final will be played at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan. The winners of the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League will earn the right to play against the winners of the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League in the 2019 UEFA Super Cup. They will also automatically qualify for the 2019–20 UEFA Champions League group stage, and if they have already qualified through their league performance, the berth reserved will be given to the third-placed team of the 2018–19 Ligue 1, the 5th-ranked association according to next season's access list.

Clubs would respect the competition more if UEFA gave it own competition a little more respect.  It took them decades to allocate 1 CL place and even that is halfheartedly.  There is a high chance that team that wins will get a place via its domestic league position.  But that 1 automatic place should remain with the competition given to the finalist or losing semi finalist.

Nice draw for the Rangers down in Spain. Going in without Morelas and Flanagan I'm happy to see them leave with a point.

Was a decent game tbf, although Villareal should of won it late on, blew two good chances to win the game.

To be fair up until the name change, the UEFA Cup was seen as a bigger trophy than it is now under the moniker of the Europa League.
Can tell you now the competition was well respected when we last won it in Dortmund in 2001.

I thought Rangers looked decent through they gave up goals are very poor times in the match (first minute of the game and a minute right after leveling the game at 1-1) but they fought back  to get a good result on the road. Kent had a couple nice runs with the ball but wasn't very impressive. Never knew Kyle Lafferty was still playing, remember him in Italy getting sold because he was too much of womanizer

Celtic effectively out after the 1st leg.

Must be frustrating for the fans, too good for their own league yet always come up short against a half decent European team.

Hahaha F**k Arsenal, their fans are unbearable, haven't been good in forever yet they are still so arrogant and obnoxious.

After United, they're the team I love seeing lose the most (excluding this season as obviously City losing is no.1).

Yeah but that happened last time we won Istanbul and suddenly we manage to school the rest of the top English teams to getting to finals and for a few years they got to semi's and finals.   We got to the final last season and first there this season and now we have 4 English teams.

      Bottlers.

      Liverpool
      Tottenham
      Chelsea
      Arsenal

All into the Final's. All top 6. Makes it look like a mighty fine Premier League this season.. but look at Liverpool the anomaly: some 20 points ahead of the other 3!!

      Clearly superior.

Arsenal through to the final quite easily but Chelsea really made hard work of doing the same.
Will be an interesting final, one team with a good attack but sh*t defence versus another with decent defence and midfield but sh*t attack.
Both are miles behind us and City.

Weird atmosphere in the stadium. Playing thousands of miles away in a country that can't cope with the travel demands was a crazy decision from UEFA.

Sadly won't be the last one they make I'd imagine.

Definitely. Massive gaps round the pitch to the fans too.
Am sure the grass is nice, but don't think that'll be much consolation to people who tried to get to the game, and couldn't.
The EUFA guys with their brown envelopes tucked away don't care I'm sure.
Depressing how such terrible decisions can be made for such big games.

Yes, watching it and agree the atmosphere is weird, more like a friendly than a Europa League Final! As a neutral I can’t say I’m enjoying it, bit bored to be honest! As for UEFA, I agree a crazy decision, but you have to ask, why! I think most of us know the answer to that one, time for big changes I think

Probably for the bet Arsenal lost, if they’d won then they’d have been in the Champions League next season. For Arsenal, that’s exactly what they need for the extra money and appeal to top players. Can see them having another mediocre season again now they are still playing Thursdays.

Plus I can’t stand that clueless charlatan Emery. Amazed he didn’t do his usual half time subs.

This competition was so much better when it was proper knock out ties.

It was like a pre season friendly awful bloody game. Just hope the lack of intensity wasn't because of the break.
