We are infinitely better equipped this time round as the defeat of PSG illustrated, that is probably the best team in Europe right now.
Yes.. last season I don't think we would have beat PSG. This season we are a lot better. It was a 50/50 game and we won. Some other posters don't quite understand that even though last season we got to the final, if we had this group last season we might not have gotten out of the group.

Agreed, let’s not sugarcoat this. We dominated one of the top teams in the world.

F***ing amazing if you ask me. It’s official, Liverpool ARE the business

Sorry but if PSG is the best team in Europe right now then we will walk the CL, the reality however is that they aren't. I think the major challenge will come from Citeh, Juventus, Barca and Real Madrid

      Hmmmm…... ??? ???

Wrong thread but they were lucky to nearly come away with a draw, we dominated pretty much the whole game.

Strange assumption to say "no one quiet understands" except you though.

Maybe we should look to you for guidance...anyone gots Klopps number?

Oh I do, very much so, I was jumping around the room like a loon when Bobby scored the winner, I'm just trying to inject some reality here and PSG have a very dangerous strike force but are a fairly average team, amongst the elite.

SM, The shots on target stat was pretty much even until we scored the winner. Van Dijk got an important block within minutes of assisting the winner. If it weren't for that it would have been 3-2 to PSG, but instead it was 3-2 to Liverpool. I'd question if you even watched the game with such a lack of knowledge about what happened. Are you going to bemoan the disallowed goal where Sturridge kicked their keeper in the goolies next?

Can only see a couple of changes

Bobby back up top, and maybe Keita for Milner or Hendo

Expecting 10 changes for the Chelsea kids game, and I think Fab will play then, as well as Shaq and Sturridge

Apparently Sturridge could start up top with Firmino. Interesting (and deadly!)

To make sure Bobby stays fresh over the course of the whole season and to motivate Sturridge further and to make our front 3 to understand that we have alternatives and they cannot dare to take it easy.

Also Shaq + Fabinho need to get involved more.

Without question. But reading the comments, it's there. I have no doubt Klopp and staff are reminding the playing staff of this and taking the necessary steps to guard against it.

Klopp addresses this very point in the presser. Well done Boss.

I think people resting the likes of Salah for this need their head checked.

I don't think it is the worst idea to try and give some players who been playing a lot over the past month (for club and country) a nice 11 day break (I would think Klopp will play nothing but squad players and odd u23 player for the cup tie) before we run into a very difficult run of 3 tough fixtures in 11 days where you will like to be able to play your best XI or close to best XI each game before the international break. Yes it would be lovely to keep trotting out the best XI game in and game out but realistically Klopp is going to have to rotate players and the next two game is a good opportunity to get 2 or 3 players a rest and additionally give 2 or 3 players a opportunity to get minutes under their belts.

Learned a lot from the presser, including that a number of backups are not available for these two games including Lallana, Lovren, solanke and Origi. But our regulars should get one break in this stretch of 7 matches. So here is how I would rotate for sat and wed:

      Southampton
      Becker
      Clyne Virgil Matip, Robbo
      Gini, Milner, Keita
      Shaq, Bobby, Mo

      Chelsea
Becker (but look out for you know who)
      TAA Gomez Matip Moreno
      Fabinho Hendo, Curtis Jones!
      Sadio, Daniel, Shaq

Obviously the regular starters who are rested can be on the bench. These are still strong teams.
      Thoughts?

Id be fairly happy with that but I'd imagine we'll play Migs in the Carabao cup, have to give him a few minutes here and there.

I think we'll see at most 2 changes to the lineup, no more. Rotation in midfield and maybe Shaqiri coming in for Mo who looks like he needs a rest

We'll definitely see some changes for two reasons. To keep the lads fresh in this busy period and also to get some of the players who haven't featured yet into a game.

      I'd go like this:

      Allison

      Clyne    Van Dijk    Matip    Robertson

      Fabinho

      Henderson    Keita

      Shaqiri    Firmino   Mane

Even to my untrained eye it was obvious that the last two matches were not as close as the score wold indicate.   I felt we dominated both PSG and Tott.  I based tomorrows score on how well we have looked coming off the break.  5-0 ...without Danny , I see another clean sheet.

Maybe Keita in for Gini or Hendo but that's it I would guess.

Jürgen said it in his presser. There's no fatigue at this stage of the season and there's enough of a gap between games to be able to back up today.

Should win this comfortably. They're pretty dire and we're very good. Only issue is the post-midweek game syndrome we have had the past few seasons.
