Did Jürgen say Shaq was a tactical change. I thought he had a knock.

7 from 7! I’ve never seen the reds looking as resilient as this and the most exciting thing is it feels like we have barely tried so far!!

The reds are coming up the hill!!

Yeah he said it was tactical - we were very open in the first half in midfield and needed another body in there

its incredibly honest of Jürgen to say that Shaq must have been gutted. 3=0 up and tightening up the midfield show Jürgen means business

yep, would of been nice to have a passy pass type goal like instead of o.g,header from corner and bundle over the line but that's just nitpicking,i'm off out to celebrate :food-smiley-005:a record unbeaten start and watch an mls game on the telly!

Yeah, Shaqiri was superb, but only 45 mins.... does anyone actually know why? I am sure we would have scored another 3 had he stayed on.

Klopp said afterward he WAS NOT injured but he wanted to shore up the midfield for defensive purposes. He didn't say this but I imagine it means Shaq will be starting the Cup match Wednesday vs. Chelsea as back to back 90-minute games after playing very little for more than a month would be asking quite a bit. Perhaps this time Shaq will play wide in a 4-3-3. He had a good debut as a starter, despite the early hook.

Mo is also rounding into form, I think.

Took a few things from today, wee Shaq attack looked the bollocks great free kick, sooner or later Mo`s going to click he's so close the flick back to goal was a wondrous attempt and unlucky not to score , a huge plus in my eyes was how we coped when Virgil went off the 2 J`s looked very sold in fact Robbo ,TAA & Co  bossed it .

Next few games will be a test but I think we are well sorted with our summer signings and the depth of our squad that  we have now,  I dont know if Jürgen will make many changes in the cup be it would be good I guess to see some of the bench get 90 mins but thats up to him  all in all everything is good in Liverpool world.

I know points make prizes and we have 2 on them but theres 4 in the GD stakes  just sayin .

Just got done watching it. They almost looked bored in the second half. Probably could have had 3 or 4 more goals had they not tried to walk everything in.

It was like a professional hit.

Nice for Shaq to get MOTM for 45 mins he is going to be a great addition to this squad by either playing or by keeping a number of players on their toes.

Big Shaq man of the match. The second half was a complete non-event and I napped through a bit of it.

Good times to be a Red.

I hope Jürgen rests EVERY important player in the League Cup (and even then we should have some decent squad)! What do you think? For me a League Cup win would mean 0.0, it's only FA, CL and PL that counts, but I am not English, so does the League Cup mean anything to you or is it just like those preseason tournament sh*t they invented recently?

Watching Mo smile and score was definitely a bonus he could have easily had a hattrick.
Even with a so called "weaker side" on Weds we are still going to be able to put out a really good team

Still a shadow of the player from last season, but getting better.
Overall a very confident performance from the team although second half was a bit meh with to much sloppy play and misplaced passes.

What's our record on goals scored vs conceded from free kicks this season?  I know we've scored quite a few and not conceded many.  Just curious if anyone knows what the spread is?  Its definitely an area that we vastly improved in the last few years!!

I just hope the shadow keeps on playing like he did against Southampton as he takes 2 or 3 opposing players out if the game every time he has the ball.

one thing you have to remember is last season Salah was just another player at this stage in the season. Now he is world class and everyone knows it. Teams setup just to stop him, which gives the rest of the team space. Today Southampton stuck 3 defenders on him at times, they got nervous that badly they were kicking the ball in their own net. I am putting it down to Salah scares the sh*t out of defences.
