. Your spot on his days are not numbered he is a ghost now needs to leave...aft

Markovic should've took whatever loan deals that come in for him. I can understand him not moving on to a much lower wage. It's of no use to him not playing and no use to us. These situations do crop up from time to time, mostly due to top clubs paying ridiculous money. Players who can't get into the team won't take a wage cut and move on. We'll get next to nothing back on this lad when he eventually goes. Pity but that's the way it is sometimes.

I can only assume this lad has everything needed to succeed apart from a brain.

tomorrow will be interesting as winning a trophy early in the season is a great way to put silverware into the Trophy cabinet.
I cant see him making too many changes and if he does they will be strong ones

Putting Migs in the goal says more than thousand assurances from Jürgen about how little it means for him, and he's right.

We have to a bit careful though as Chelsea have a hell of a lot of good youngsters don't they, I think we need to field a reasonably strong team tonight and have the big boys ready on the bench if needed. If we can get a solid win tonight then it will give us great momentum for the weekend's match.

Thing is, we do have depth in the squad. But if we see 9-10 changes, the accumulative effect of that will be a considerable drop, I'm afraid (and I'm not saying we shouldn't do it, I think we should for the sake of other matches).

It's one thing to say that if, say, Trent can't play in a certain game, that it's good to have an experienced player like Clyne to step in. No question about it. BUT, there is a reason Jürgen goes with pretty much the same lineup each time. The starters, as always, are better than the backups. One change is very manageable, maybe 2 or 3 even, but then when it's everyone who ordinarily doesn't get a game, then you see some more noticeable dropoff in team quality. It's just normal.

But tonight, if he goes with the lineup many of us have been suggesting, we'll see how much of a dropoff it is, and just good our team depth really is.

      Hoping for the best.

I know he is going to start but I personally wouldn't play Mignolet. He has no future here so I don't see the point. He is not good enough to rival Alisson and you can't teach an old dog new tricks, he will never change.

He will be gone next season and we need to bring in a new, young, fresh number 2 with high ambitions ready to learn and then challenge Alisson for that number one spot.

Mignolet should never play for us again in my opinion. Lost count how many chances he's had and if he comes in tonight and makes a mistake and we go out because of it then I'll be raging.

Based on what Klopp said during the interview I actually look forward to seeing Migs play och judge him from tonight's performance. I think it goes for most of us here that we rather would have seen us keep Ward and get rid of Karius and Migs. However (hopefully) the influence of Becker has had a positive impact on Migs, we will find out soon enough.

The important thing is that we get behind the team, the whole team tonight and trust the fact that Klopp has a plan and that we support that plan.

Really looking forward to tonight's game. Hopefully, we can get an idea were Lovren is at as well as Fabinho and a lot of other players.

If Alisson goes down with illness or injury, it would not be ideal to hand the net over to Migs and have not played a single minute all season. He needs game time, even if its just the Carabao Cup.

As for next season, i agree Migs will be gone and a #2 will come in, but you don't pay whatever +60M they did for Alisson to bring in someone to challenge him, even if its down the road. He is the undisputed #1 for the next 7-10yrs.

I disagree. Regardless of Alissons fee, we should have competition for places in every position otherwise performances may become complacent.

We don't have to spend big on a number 2 but we should have somebody on the bench who has the potential or ability to come in and do a job for us. Somebody who if Alisson is going through a bad patch, we can use him if we need too.

Mignolet isn't that man. He has no future here and has proven dozens of times to be a very poor goalkeeper. Therefore, for just this season, I do not agree with the rotation of keepers and Alisson should play every single game.

Mignolet could be the reason we exit this competition.

Time for a change of fortune..

      Head-to-head
*Liverpool have won only two of their past 14 games against Chelsea in all competitions (D7 L5), with both victories coming at Stamford Bridge.
*This is the 57th meeting between Liverpool and Chelsea since the turn of the millennium, making it the most played fixture in English football in that time.
*This is the eighth League Cup meeting between Liverpool and Chelsea and the first at the third-round stage since November 2000, when the Reds won 2-1 at Anfield with goals from Danny Murphy and Robbie Fowler.

      Liverpool
*Liverpool have lost their last three League Cup matches without scoring a single goal, their worst ever run in the competition - the Reds haven't been eliminated at the third-round stage in back to back seasons since doing so in 1989-90 and 1990-91.

      Chelsea
*Chelsea have progressed from each of their past seven League Cup third-round ties since losing 4-3 to Newcastle United in 2010-11.
*None of the last eight Chelsea managers to manage in the League Cup have lost their first match in the competition (W7 D1), with Claudio Ranieri the last Blues boss to lose his maiden game - against Liverpool in November 2000.
