What can you blame them for? They were pressing like usual, just without the usual success which is quite normal, because pressing depends highly on having the luck to catch the defense. They got far too few good passes to get into promising situations. Salah may have looked poor but he basically got nothing decent on his foot.

Passing, either back or not on the front foot, how many times tonight, did you see a player have to retrieve the ball by going back.
Last year it was crisp, this year.... its been generally sh*te

F***ing hell you’d think we are two months without a win going off here.

We’ve basically played Spurs, PSG, Chelsea twice and Napoli on the trot in less than a month. A bad performance in there is understandable.

Key is how we bounce back.

It was worse then bad to be fair and add in the line changed nothing and you can appreciate frustrations. Though some posts are the usual over reactions

I thought we looked okay before Keita came off. I mean, a few mistakes by Keita, but had he settled down, maybe we would have taken something, but him coming off probably killed off any chance of us winning.

Anyone else noticed how wide our #8's are at times? And when you see the full backs push up, one of our #8's would drop really deep to cover, even 2 at times, and it's not only happening in away games, but home too.

The only time I can recall our #8's being so wide last season was vs Chelsea away, but I don't recall our #8's being so deep to cover one of our attacking full backs last season.

I thought we were horrible whiole game. Keita just wasn’t on it and Gini and Milner looked absolutely knackered.

Henderson was no better bar 10 mins of energy when he came on.

Just poor from beginning to end.

I think he can, if Jürgen only lets him.
he is not really a creative player, but I believe he would create more than any other player in midfield at present

Klopp should have put Shaq on when Keita got injured. Milner, Gini and Hendo is a bad combination. It messed the whole midfield up.

As much as I thought Salah was poor again tonight, the midfield is were we lost this game. They lacked any kind of penetration or creativity once Keita went off, so I'd be inclined to agree with you because it was about the most pedestrian midfield I've seen for a very long time, so as a result the front three were starved of service for large parts of the game. I realise there isn't much we can do but we are really missing Ox right now; and what's up with Lallana not even making the bench these days?

When they play it tight, our players were static and did not sprint and allowed them to mark us out of the game. We played Italian tactics and try to match them and got a sucker punch. Wrong tactics Klopp. You outrun them with fast movement of players and they can't match.

In fairness I think we should be gracious enough to credit Ancelotti for his part in that. He got his tactics spot on. Klopp did not.

Oh aye, credit where it's due to him. But at the same time, doesn't mean our front 3 played well or even ok, they were shockingly poor.

The amount of times I said 'pass the F***ing ball' when Mo, Bobby or Mane had it was crazy this evening.

I still think our midfield is very poor, keep give ball way worrying think we playing poor lot games, look at city don't look as tried because kept ball and control games, l think high pressing OK if can keep ball long time in match we seem give ball away lot, we need David sliva type player in midfield not use players just run and press

Really? If someone had offered you, to any of us before the season kicked off, you'll have two defeats in nine and win six of them, you'd have snatched their hand off.

Just my view, if what win league or premier league you need kept ball better and control midfield better, we seem give ball away lot and feel high pressing level drop we look like poor team at times,

To field our (arguably) strongest XI and to not come away with a point can be a bit demoralizing.

At the same time, it might be a kick in the pants to the entire club.  All of the squad and all of the way up to Klopp.

Yes we had been playing pretty well without our front line firing.

Two losses and a draw in the past three games.  I expect us to put our noses to the grindstone over the next few days and sort things out.

A win against City would make a huge statement and give the squad a major boost.

Pathetic performance and a 3rd game without a win, we play like that Sunday and it won’t take until the 90th minute for our opponent to find the net.

People askin where Fekir would even fit in...that midfield, that’s where.

Simply not good enough that performance.
Were absolutely crying out for a playmaker and Fekir would have been the ideal candidate.

Sunday would be a great day for that!

Going into Sunday with the exact form we didn’t want. The forwards better damn well click then or it’s curtains for hopes of 3 points.

Games like today’s just shows we still miss that link between the midfield and attack. We are playing with virtually the same team as last season with Alisson the only one who’s really cemented his place and people wonder why our midfield lacks so much creativity. As good as Gini and Milner have been this season, it’s unlikely they will unlock a team when you need it most and when you pair them with Hendo too, it’s a recipe for a painful display if the forwards aren’t pulling their weight either.

Bit of an eye opener this match. Hopefully the thought of a 4th game without a win kicks the team on to continue our good run of results over City but we play like we did today and we may as well give them a goal headstart.

Tough place to go and Napoli are no pushovers but I think we have all come to expect better from the team. It’s okay to lose, it happens, especially against good teams and it’s part of the game. But to lose and play so poor is what pisses me off the most, at least go down fighting and take some self respect and credit from the game.
