Liverpool 0-0 Manchester City: In game and Post Match discussion
      Oct 07, 2018 03:37:01 pm

Dejan Lovren starts as Liverpool make two changes for this afternoon’s Premier League clash with Manchester City at Anfield.

The defender is handed his first Premier League appearance of the season as he replaces Trent Alexander-Arnold in the back four.

Jordan Henderson is the other change to the starting XI, though Naby Keita is fit to take a place on the bench.

Liverpool: Alisson, Gomez, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Milner, Henderson, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Mignolet, Fabinho, Keita, Sturridge, Shaqiri, Matip, Alexander-Arnold.

The rumours were right then about Lovren. Why did Clyne not start at RB

Message to Trent there. Big call from Klopp.

Time to play our game. We've been poor lately, but this might be  just the game to get our groove back.

Clyne's not even on the bench so maybe injured - would help explain why we've moved Gomez.

Would have liked Keita giving us at least 2 fresh legs in midfield, but again maybe not completely over his injury.

Talk about throwing Dejan in in the deep end.

Not a fan of the midfield given our attackers haven’t been firing yet, nor of Lovren coming in, but hey ho.

Time for Mo to silence the doubters, let’s smash them reds!!

Shabs mentioned it, and it totally eluded me, but Fabinho would have been a good shout for RB

Can see Robbo bombing forward heavily, with Gomez at right back we can switch to a back three really well while in possession.

So the one that did perform during mid-week gets presumably shifted out of position whilst the three that didn't keep theirs? Not a fan of this line up whatsoever. I really hope it doesn't backfire on us but it doesn't instill me with much confidence.

Don't think the line up defensively is some disaster waiting to happen. Klopp obviously has worries over Sterling and just pauses TAA for a game or two.

Solid midfield, cautious attack rather than all guns blazing. I would've taken a chance on Shaq with Keita in alongside Hendo but I can see what Klopp is doing and it's a fair shout.

Happy 20th birthday Trent. You're on the bench son.

I'm sure Lovren will be raring to go and makes sense Henderson starting for Keita considering he was in hospital on Wednesday night.  Wouldn't be good if he had to go off after 20 minutes again.

Come on redmen - end this spell of games on a high.

Looking at City's midfield + Mahrez, they are really gonna overload it in the middle, aren't they? But on paper, the only defensive outlet they have is Fernandinho.

I just hope they don't dominate us like how they did in the first half in the away CL game.

Far too much negativity on these boards,  ask yourselves this...

....DO you TRUST in our manager??

      .....BELIEVE PPL,

its not the X1 most of us would have chosen,  so instead of whinging and f***in moaning, get behind the lads Jürgen obviously has faith in, for this particular encounter,

If Titties head north feel free to vent your frustrations after the f***in match !!

Line up doesn’t look exciting at the middle; No naturally forward forward looking midfielder (except Milner)...

We may have to rely on set pieces or wait for errors like in previous encounters...

They are bunged out with attacking threat might be we'll be on the counter attack...at home. One thing for sure is Pep is going for it so our defence had better be on form.

I wonder if that's the reason why Lovren is playing, for his long balls? He can really ping them, can't he?

Good call to drop Trent, he's not been great last few games and still only a lad, don't want him burnt out. Gomez will keep anyone down the left quiet, especially that wee snake
