Yep. 'Clueless' Carlo Ancelotti and his Milan side that was one of the best of all time.

If only he didn't use the diamond you can only imagine how successful he could have been.
Ancelotti got fired by Munich last season. Bundeliga is like PL in tempo, Diamond just doesn't work well for that. In the Italian league it might. There was a spell PL dominated Europe and it's becoming clear why.

If you look at how much better Coutinho and Salah etc... do outside of Italy compared to Aqualini and Lucas in it.... Lucas is storming it there but here he just wasn't quite quick enough. In Italy Coutinho's career was almost ruined and now he's at Barcelona.

No Milner, Mane, Salah and Van Dijk or Keita wouldn't be ideal.  Might get a look at Fabinho if that's the case. Shaq and Danny and a new look back four of TAA, Moreno, Lovren, Robertson but if Moreno's  fit should use Gomez.

Off to ā€œThe Toby Jugā€ in Costa Adeje to watch the game later.

Supposed to be a full on Reds bar so that should be good.

Never been there, but I know a Toby  Jug that shut down because there was so much violence in there it just lost it's popularity... Probably an area thing. Walkabout is a good place, unfortunately I couldn't make it to Istanbul in 2005, but Walkabout was packed with supporters and people weren't leaving at 3-0. Most people saw the come-back.

Used to be one in most towns back home Ribs. Traditional pub name - bit like ā€œThe Red Lionā€ etc.

Too many those old places disappeared sadly (obviously the one youā€™re referring to doesnā€™t sound like much of a loss to society ;))

Every formation can be as flexible as you want it to be.

You're taking nonsense as usual Rip.

People get too hung up on what is at most, a basic shape at the start of the game.
We play half a dozen different formations every match in defense, transition, attack, press, possession phases.
Klopp is all about fluidity and space. For example, if Milner (or whoever) presses high up, that player will then fill the 10 space, with another (usually Firmino) dropping into midfield.
It happens constantly, and our lads are so good at it now, that it's barely noticeable it's so smooth.

You can always name fake formations and throw your opponents a surprise after kick off.

Nah, pretty sure it doesn't work like that.
The only surprise can be selections and axis of attack/defense.

Modern coaches prefer very fluid systems, and older coaches have either caught on to this and changed accordingly, or lost their mojo like maureen.

Formations are useful for pre-match broadcasting though.

      JĆ¼rgen Klopp prematch tunnel interview:
Geoff: JĆ¼rgen, you named a 4-3-3 today tell us what are your thoughts.
JĆ¼rgen: When we attack it's actually 7-1-2. We attack and defend in numbers. Hahaha.

That's all they really are, a guide for people who don't understand what they are seeing.

It's like MOTD always used to put Rafa's formation down as a 442.

Well here we go matchday such a thrill and whatever JĆ¼rgen does with his selection it will be the right choice and the right tactics.
He sees these lads day in day out and he is such a good judge of a player and when he is ready and when he is not.
UTD winning at Chelsea means a win takes us top.

This is going to be an enjoyable evening.
