      Must Win Game.

No Shaq and Hendo still not available.

Might be the same midfield starting as against Arsenal with Keita coming on at some point.
Or do we put Gini back and start with Lallana.

Possibly Lovren with VVD and Gomez RB.

First instinct is that Gini, Milner and Lallana are the midfielders. But after a tough match (following two from which he was praised), JĂźrgen may want to give Fabinho another runout in order to build confidence, show faith, etc. So Lallana or Fab, with the other two shifting accordingly.

Its not a must win game at all, but if we win it, which I very much feel that we will, then we'll be in a commanding position in the group.

I've got a feeling we might see Origi in this game at some point. Shame Shaq is not in the squad, is he injured? Am assuming that to be the case. Studge should start, I hope he does. Be great for Keita to get some minutes off the bench but important not to rush him too soon.

Shaqiri has been left out of the squad because the club " want to avoid any distractions" that may be caused by Shaqiri's Albanian heritage.

Shaq has Kosovar Albanian parents and emigrated to Switzerland in 1992. Few tensions between Albania and Serbia has probably prompted the club to leave Xherdan Shaqiri out of the squad. Politics eh...

No doubt it will be a hostile atmosphere.  as long as we don't do anything stupid in the first 20 mins we should go on to win.

First 20 mins or so will be about containing them I suspect, and trying to punish them on the break.

We'll gradually take control, as we did in the first match, then hopefully stick a few past them.

They're a pretty poor side, but at home they'll be properly fired up, so taking the sting out of them will be essential.

Yes, their fans were banned from buying tickets for the game at Anfield. Hundreds of them invaded the pitch after they knocked out RB Salzburg. They were fined 30k Euros and had to pay RB Salzburg for any damages. All our fans at the game will have to be careful. Lets hope they all get back safely.

Won the home game 4-0 and missed a penalty. But will be tougher this time around. Still go for a 2-0 win

But a win is important as we have a tough PSG away after this game. Secure a win here and the pressure would be off V PSG. Run of winnable Prem games in between: Fulham H,Watford A, Everton H,Burnley A, Bournmouth A. Should of at least stay in the Top 3.

Klopp has probably been told not to take Shaqiri because of his WC t-shirt stunt. He can't really be trusted not to do something controversial.

Double pivot with Fabinho, Wijnaldum and Lallana as the 10 or a midfield 3 of, Gini, Milner and Lallana, but I don't think it would matter as we would beat them regardless.

Would like us to play Clyne too with either Lovren/Matip coming in for Gomez/VVD.

We can get another 3 points and hopefully have the Napoli v PSG match draw we will be in really strong position to qualify for the knockout stage. It could be a tricky game though when Napoli drew there they missed so many chance so hoping to see more clinical finishing, especially if we can get a goal early on to take the crowd out it. Line-up wise I expect after poor game weekend see Gomez pushed out RB with Lovern/Matip playing alongside VvD and Sturridge to start with Firmino up top with one of them dropping back to link the play (more then likely Firmino doing that task)

      -----------------Alisson--------------
      Gomez---Lovern------VvD----Robbo
      -----------Fabinho---Milner---------
      Salah-----------Firmino------Mane
      -----------------Sturridge------------

      What "WC t-shirt stunt"?

      If you mean this

..then good on him, but Shaqiri, 27, is an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo, where a Serbian crackdown on the Albanian population ended with Nato military intervention in 1999.

After scoring for Switzerland against Serbia this summer, he celebrated by making a double-headed eagle gesture, which symbolises the Albanian flag.

The more I think about it, I would like to see Firmino playing in midfield, behind Sturridge, rather than Lallana as a like-for-like swap for Shaq or another midfielder.

      Becker
      Gomez, Lovren, Virgil, Robbo

      Gini Milner

      Mo, Bobby, Sadio

      Sturridge

Its not a must win game at all, but if we win it, which I very much feel that we will, then we'll be in a commanding position in the group.

To my mind we must treat this as a much win game, anything less will only bring needless pressure  on us in the remaining group matches.

to be fair on Europa League, it's more interesting now it has CL qualification as a prize. We should finish in the top four anyway, but if Leicester etc... can finish 6th or something the EL has more of a relevance than it used to... when smaller clubs win it, the CL qualification can totally transform the club... it was a missing link before. Because the way the EL has been transformed, good players will accept EL a bit more than they used to which is probably why a lot of Europes better leagues are seeing a top 6 instead of just the old top 4.

I really hope this game is on cable TV where I am, most of the league games are, but the Champions League rarely is. If I’m stuck with a stream at midnight I’ll top myself xD

Serious hopes that we’ll go out and find our shooting boots buried somewhere in their ground, it could be a tough game or we could start an absolute riot that could see us return to last seasons form!

i don't think it's wise to play him until after international break, one sniff of fitness and he's getting called up.

If we're not top of the group tonight then I think we will struggle to qualify out the group.

That depends entirely on how the PSG and Napoli game goes, we'd still just need to beat one of those 2 to go through and we have Napoli at home. Obviously its a hell of a lot easier if we win tonight but not impossible even if we don't.
I actually fancy us to win or at least draw all our remaining games.

Guys I'm a bit confused by the apprehension on here, I know we were not at our best against Arsenal but they are a much much better side than Red Star and even so we could have won that game with a bit more luck going our way.
I think we'll do a Porto on these guys, a proper thrashing, as they'll have to come out attacking against us and I don't think the atmosphere will phase us one bit, these lads have been in some proper cauldrons before and always keep their nerve, plus our defence is so much more solid at the moment.

Guys I'm a bit confused by the apprehension on here,

I think the apprehension is reasonable.  It will be an intimidating atmosphere and build up.  We do have a talented but still young team, and to be fair they've come up short in finals etc when the pressure has been on.  I feel like the club feeling it necessary to leave Shaqiri at home will also add concern in our young players minds.

Hope I'm all wrong and they breeze down this tunnel and go out and smash them 5-0.

That's old footage the tunnel has been cleaned up and refurbished to a degree, it doesn't look as "intimidating" now.

That tunnel reminds me of the walkway between lines in “Passeig de Gracia” metro station in Barcelona.

      Fair points.

They might be a pretty poor team, but a crowd like they have can really lift them and if they manage an early goal, they will be a handful.
Then again, if we get an early one, I think we'll win it comfortably.

I'm wondering if their coach will line up 4 players on their right again at kick off like it's F***ing rugby

What did all the grafiti mean, it just makes it look a bit sh*t rather than intimidating, the noise is impressive though, but I still don't think it will phase our players to much, although it would be a very bad game to play any rookies.

Bazed on Clynes unavailability and that Lovern might be well up for this

                               Becker

      Joe          Lovern    VVD     Robbo

                  Gini                Fabinho

      Mo                Lallana         Mane

After Saturday's disappointing choke job we need to go out and own this game today and take a commanding position in our CL group. No messing around.

I know young Trent had a poor game by his standards but I'd keep the same backline for this game ie TAA, Gomez, VVD, Robertsen. Trent needs more games to rediscover his excellent form from last year, he doesn't need or deserve benching.

Agree. TAA should play against this lot to get better. Yes, he had a bad time of recent but that is against much better opponents than these lot. Anyway, that is my 2p worth not that Klopp listens to me.

I can understand the Lallana choice, because if Gomez plays on the right we lose a bit of attacking threat, and Lallana brings a bit extra.

I'm curious about why you think Sturridge will start though?
      To rest Firmino?
To me, he slows things down a bit too much, but I'm interested to know your thoughts on it.

Anyone think or feel we are going to dominate this game and win comfortably it should be a game we can do exactly that. 15 competitive games into the season we should now be starting to shine and play with confidence it would be great to start tonight with a commanding performance and a big win

I think if we get an early goal, we could take them apart.

The first 20 minutes will be hectic, as they'll throw everything at us, but we have the players to cope, and hit them on the counter.
After 20, I see us gradually taking control of the game as long as we haven't conceded.
