This new overseas TV deal has absolutely killed the third round.

Not good considering the FA Cup was struggling as it was.

Apart from Foden, City played near on the strongest line up they could. Obviously ran out with a big 7-0 win but after a busy Xmas schedule, they’ve had the FA Cup, Wolves at the weekend and then they are back in action a few days later again for the league cup. Hopefully all this game time takes its toll on them.

Or they could win a treble

They could but I don’t think that’s their priority. There’s a chance they could (if the powers that be have the bottle to be consistent), be banned from the Champions League next season so I think they could soon be prioritised in that direction. The FA Cup used to be a good thing to win but it’s becoming more and more like the League Cup at the moment.

Also the players City have, you’d think they’d be able to rest the likes of Sterling for a game against Rotherham but still get a comfortable win.

Look at most of the recent fa cup winners. Teams challenging on several fronts mostly who finish top 4. Elite mentality

It’s not though; Arsenal 3 FA Cup wins in the last 6 years but competing for nothing else, Wigan who were relegated, United a couple of years ago with just the Europa League to fight for and Chelsea last season with nothing to fight for and no hope of getting top 4.
Also look at the runners up in the last 6 years - Hull, Villa, Palace.
The last time 2 top 4 teams met in the final before last season was 2007, Chavs and Mancs...although Chelsea weren’t even top 4 last season.
Would be great to win it obviously, my point though is you get the lower division and bottom end Premier League team now not taking it all that seriously, resting most of their team because they want the strongest team fit for the league. Used to be just the bigger teams doing that, now you get everyone doing it.

Which is why I said it’s becoming like the League Cup now. I expect the day will come where the FA Cup is changed to something stupid like Carabao cup or whatever other rubbish they go for. Probably not for a lot of years yet but it’ll happen IMO.

Just having the league cup causes the FA cup to lose its uniqueness. They should scrap the league cup and increase the prize money in the FA cup. The stupid amount of fixtures is weakening both domestic cups, watered down trophies now. I'd gladly take an early exit from both of them this year to win a real respected trophy.

ask Newport if they think the FA Cup should be changed . its about the little teams the David and Goliath match up's. Football exists outside the top 5 or 6 clubs and in this Country there are 92 league Clubs why shouldn't fans of clubs like Newport enjoy their special day

Nobody has said it should be changed, just that it isn’t viewed as prestigious as it once was.

they have the usual culprits think it should be seeded its only not that relevant to the top teams because quite frankly the prize money is crap. Ask the lower league teams fans who have won this weekend they will still be buzzing.
The Fa have done nothing to protect the Competition which is what the FA do well F**k things up.
Should have made the winner the CL qualifier

I'm fed up of being told how great it is to go out of this cup and that cup. It's helped us win all of one trophy since we last won it.

This stage of it, is all about the minnows. It's their big day out. For the bigger clubs, it's a chore that you have to get through. Once you reach the quarters/semis, players and fans of those involved, take it seriously and treat it with the respect it deserves.
