Oh well - was a good push but no shots on target all game?
Something desperately troubling about that fact. But then again, no one envisions a starting midfield trio of Gini, Milner and Hendo certainly not last year when we were crying out for a couple of brand spanking new midfielders and certainly not this year. All three may be useful in A midfield (especially Milner) but all three together? The signs were there ever since AOO was hauled off on a stretcher against Roma and we just got through in Rome with that three. Sadly we couldn't compete in the final.
It also says something about the slow progress of Keita and Fabinho. Both have a long way to go before they get up to speed and it's been something of an anti climax seeing both of them play so far. Keita is too slow to release the ball and Fabinho struggles to keep pace with the game at times. Both will have to work hard to eradicate such deficiencies from their game.
At the end of the day though, the press has always been our best playmaker as idealised by Klopp himself. In days gone by AOO himself, Coutinho and Lallana were pros at the press.
Overall, another poor display and poor result in Europe. We've only got ourselves to blame but I fancy the idea of an all or nothing, Anfield pumped up night against Napoli.
