Jürgen Klopp: Liverpool manager charged with misconduct for derby celebration

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has been charged by the Football Association with misconduct for running on to the pitch after his side's 96th-minute winner against Everton at Anfield.

Klopp ran on to hug goalkeeper Alisson after Divock Origi's bizarre goal in Sunday's Merseyside derby.

Liverpool won 1-0 to move two points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Klopp, who later apologised, has until 18:00 GMT on Thursday to respond.

The German, speaking after Sunday's game, said: "I have to apologise because I didn't want to be disrespectful - but I couldn't stop myself.

"If I could describe how I felt when the goal went in, then I would have control over it. We don't want to look for excuses but that's how it is.

"The plan was not to run. When I chose to stop, I was close to Alisson. He was surprised."

Everton counterpart Marco Silva said he had no issue with Klopp's actions.

"I didn't see Klopp's reaction and if we scored that goal and had been so lucky I might have done the same," said the Portuguese.

      "I didn't see any disrespect."

BBC Radio 5 live summariser Robbie Savage said he had "never seen anything like it", while former England defender Danny Mills told 5 live it was "absolutely shocking".

Good, charge him and throw the book at him, coming over here with his infectious smile, joyous attitude and interacting with fans, why does he need to celebrate at all, running on to the pitch after a 96th minute derby winner, it's just not the English way, showing emotion. Dreadful.

Never have I seen the like.... except when Pep did it, but that's different, isn't it.

Seriously, what a load of bollocks.

It was going to happen unfortunately- the Prem League have suffocated all the celebrations because opposition fans react negatively to them so instead of punishing the single cell idiots who use a celebration as an excuse to react they just try and stop the celebration.

Well to be fair, Pep didn't run as deep in the field as Jürgen did.  :f_tongueincheek:

So did Pep not get any punishment whilst Klopp did, I'd sue the FA if that is the case, clear double standards.

If the ball is over the line, it's over the line, if the feet are on the pitch, then the feet are on the pitch, distance does not matter.

What about Mourinho acting like a F***ing hooligan in the same scenario and no action was taken?

Are coaches allowed to go on the field or not? If no, then why is this a surprise?

Maureen allows buses on the pitch, a coach is no different. IMO.

So will he get a touchline ban ? Or club/him get a fine ?
Not surprised, they're pretty anal with their rules.

Refs fault, should have gave Klopp a yellow, then FA can't do anything. Ref should be marked down for doing nothing.

Which is basically the equivalent of what will happen to Klopp (minus the fine) assuming what Paul Joyce tweeted is correct (posted in Klopp's thread).

Man City boss Pep Guardiola defends Liverpool's Jürgen Klopp as derby celebration fall-out continues

Pep Guardiola has defended Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp for his derby celebrations that have seen him slapped with an FA charge.

The Football Association have charged Klopp with misconduct after running on to the pitch in the 96th minute following Divock Origi's dramatic late winner against Everton at Anfield on Sunday.

Klopp raced to the halfway line and gave goalkeeper Alisson Becker a hug before retreating back to the dugout.

The Liverpool boss later apologised for his actions and revealed he had said sorry to Everton counterpart Marco Silva, who claimed not to have seen the incident nor heard the apology.

And Guardiola, who was "reminded of his responsibilities" after a similar incident after a late Raheem Sterling winner against Southampton, believes Klopp is merely guilty of showing his emotions.

"I did it against Southampton," said the Manchester City boss. "There are a lot of emotions in those moments.

"I know when I did it I was not happy to have done it, so I can understand Marco Silva and Mauricio Pellegrino when it happens.

"Sometimes it's what it is – an emotional game, everything happens in your mind. I take for my side, you have to be respectful for the other ones.

"When you win you are a huge personality when you lose it's a lack of respect. When you lose you are a bad guy and when you win everything is acceptable.

"We live in a world where everyone judges the winners and it's just that we win."

From what I could find on the net, Pep wasn't charged back then.

If Jürgen does his twisted jaw scowl at the hearing they will sh*t themselves and give Maureen the ban.
