Heskey back in! England squad released
      Aug 16, 2008 10:25:59 pm
Wigan's Emile is back in the England squad.

      No Peter Crouch either.

Wonder if Gerrard and Barry will be 'rooming together'.  Maybe Benitez will send him an 'I'm sorry' card.  ;D

Goalkeepers: David James (Portsmouth), Paul Robinson (Blackburn Rovers), Joe Hart (Manchester City)

Defenders: Wayne Bridge (Chelsea), Wes Brown (Manchester United), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Portsmouth), John Terry (Chelsea), Matthew Upson (West Ham United), Jonathan Woodgate (Tottenham Hotspur)

Midfielders: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Gareth Barry (Aston Villa), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Joe Cole (Chelsea), David Bentley (Tottenham Hotspur), Frank Lampard (Chelsea),David Beckham (LA Galaxy), Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough)

Forwards: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Jermain Defoe(Portsmouth), Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Emile Heskey (Wigan Athletic)

Good to see Heskey back in the squad!

No Crouch though? A Community Shield defeat shouldn't go againt his chances, he didn't exactly have a magic midfield behind him!

Bridge, Brown, Upson, Johnson, Woodgate, Carrick, Walcott and Heskey? Surely we've got one or two better players who've been left out.

That's a very poor defence, I know Richards (man city) an Neville (man utd) have been out for a while but they should be in there (if fit), along with Lescott from Everton. Like it or not Lescott was the best English left back last year. I'd pick Ste Warnock ahead of Wayne Bridge as well. Steven Taylor has played consistantly well at U-21 level and deserves his chance with the senior side ahead of Upson, Brown and Woodgate who just aren't good enough and have proven so.

Without sounding biased I think Carrick is just sh*te. I'd have Reo-Coker who's performed well at U-21 level and last year for Villa or Michael Johnson from Man City ahead of Carrick.

Ashley Young should be ahead of Walcott who can't even hold down a place in the Arsenal side and as it's already been said Crouch should be in the side, probably ahead of Heskey.

David Beckham can't even run with the ball at his feet in a 3rd rate league and he still gets called over the likes of Young.....makes no sense to me
