      Liverpool v Newcastle Weds 26th Dec 15:00KO
      Dec 22, 2018 11:51:32 am
Games coming thick and fast, big game against Arsenal 4 days after this so I expect us to rotate a few players:

      Alisson

      Clyne
      Lovren
      Van Dijk
      Robertson

      Wijnaldum
      Henderson (c)
      Lallana

      Shaqiri
      Salah
      Mane

      Subs:

      Mignolet
      Alexander-Arnold
      Fabinho
      Milner
      Keita
      Firmino
      Sturridge

Newcastle have often played 3-5-1-1 this season, with this being the line up they played in their last game against Huddersfield (a 1-0 away win):

      Dubravka

      Schar
      Lascelles (c)
      Clark

      Manquillo
      Diame
      Ki
      Atsu
      Kenedy

      Ayoze Perez

      Rondon

Newcastle have 2 former Reds in their squad - Jonjo Shelvey and Javier Manquillo.

I’m sure Rafa will have them well drilled and I can see him trying to grind out a draw here, but I can’t see how they are gonna live with our attacking play, even if we rotate.

      4-0 to us ⚽️😎

Robertson needs a rest and if we can't trust Moreno at home to Newcastle, then we can never trust him.

I expect this to be hard fought and not straight forward. Just get the job done. 2-0 Reds!!

We have the City game 5 days after the Newcastle game. I like Keita, but he had to come off with a cut foot and blow to one of his lower back ribs. I'd give him the city game and start Shaqiri against Newcastle with Gini and Hendo. Not a fan of Milner and Hendo together. I'd rest Milner because he's needed at RB against City. That isn't harsh on Fabinho, because he'd get City and Henderson would sit that one out.

      V Newcastle
      Gini  Hendo
          Shaqiri

      V City
      Fab   Gini
          Keita

Gini didn't start yesterday so he can start next two.

I thought we'd go with Clyne yesterday to be honest. I'm abit confused if Clyne or Milner is favoured.

I imagine after such long lay off and 90m against United that Clyne was probably gassed and couldn’t handle another 90 the next game. Expect him to start against newcastle however

For City, he will be back because Klopp said that he is close to start against Newcastle. He will be rested against Benitez and will play against the Gunners.

Agree with this line up, but I would rather have it in a 4-3-3 than a 4-2-3-1, with Hendo and Gini slightly behind Shaqiri, but not enough behind him to not say it is not a midfield 3.

I've used the Team Builder twice but it doesn't give me the link to paste it in the thread like before. Maybe I'm forgetting something.

Anyway, this lineup is as much about the Arsenal and City matches as it is about Newcastle. Klopp didn't rotate much vs. Wolves (just as most of you predicted)l, so I'm hoping he does that here.

      Allison
      Clyne, Lovren, Virgil, Moreno
      Gini, Milner, Lallana
      Origi, Sturridge, Shaquiri.
Subs: Mignolet, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Salah, Bobby, Mane

I know that's 7 changes but as I said, most of these guys need a break. Shaquiri and Sturridge will be key to unlocking a compact defense, and Allison, Lovren, Virgil and Gini should be sufficient guard against any counters. It it's not happening after 60 minutes then you have plenty of firepower to insert at home, but these are well-paid, experienced professionals in this XI and if you can't give them a run-out in this fixture during this busy set of matches, then seriously, when would you ever use them?

The only reason this could be tricky is there will be a lot of changes to the side, this is the fixture to rest a lot of key players going into the Arsenal/City matches. This provides a good opportunity for the likes of Lallana, Origi, Sturidge and Clyne to make a claim to getting more playing time. I think there we will have a lot of the ball and need to break through the deep defending which is going to be set out by Rafa.

      Clyne----Lovern-----VvD------Moreno
      -------Milner----Gini-----Shaqiri------

Shaqiri will be in with Wijnaldum. No doubt Matip and Clyne will play too. Can't see us going with too many of the fringe players up front though.

I feel Lallana deserves some more attention. You can see he wants to convince, he looks determined to make an impression. Talentwise I think he's superior to anyone in the midfield but Keita. Think back two years ago what force he was.

Don't take these lot lightly especially after the results today of city & Chelsea. Must win, don't care how. Of we just think we will win then it is recipe for disaster.
