Gutted by this news a real Liverpool player could play on both wings fast and a great dribbler.
RIP and condolences to Peter's family

Stood on the Kop in the sixties with Cally coming at you from down the left and Thommo from down the right.

As a left winger he used to dribble past players like they weren't there.

Proud to have seen him play. Amazing.

      RIP Thommo.    Great memories.

      Thanks.

      RIP  Condolences to his family.

Life is almost too short and unfair at times. It would have been nice if we could have won the title last season so that he could of seen us back up where we belong one last time...

Same as Skip, a joy to watch.
When either of them got on a run defenders would retreat in numbers, set up and scored some awesome goals.

BBC article on his death quotes Bill Shankly about Peter: "He could run forever, but more importantly in football he could run with the ball - probably the hardest thing to do. "He could run every minute of every game, every week, every year better than anybody else.
His work-rate was outstanding, his fitness unequalled, his balance like a ballet dancer. I have no hesitation in placing Peter up among the all-time greats - alongside such players as Tom Finney, Stanley Matthews and George Best."

RIP Peter, a key player in the 60's side, full of flair. His first goal in the semi final led us to Wembley and the FA cup in '65, a key moment in our history. Many thanks Peter.

I was at that semi final at Villa Park courtesy of winning a raffle organised and run by L.F.C.Peter was nicknamed Twinkletoes by the Kop a title fully deserved by the way he used to bamboozle the opposition.

Terrible news. Peter Thompson was my all time favourite winger. Watched him so many times, always a buzz of anticipation when he got the ball. He would show it to the full back then an amazing turn of pace, burn off the full back leaving him floundering.

He had fantastic close control and dribbling skill but more than anything it was that amazing turn of pace from virtually a standing start. Could lash them in right or left foot. A real privilege and pleasure to have been lucky enough to see him play. Probably suffered from Alf Ramsey not playing wingers, but for that he would've won more than the 16 caps he gained.

      RIP Peter Thompson
