I said 3 months ago I didn't want to see us start again with a Gini-Hendo-Milner midfield and I still stand by that statement.

How can you leave the quality of Fab, Keita and Shaq sitting on the bench?????

you wouldn't think so mate its like a wake. This is a team that had 100 points and over 100 goals last season we have lost one by a fluke we could have won that 3-2.
Just want to see us come back now and rip teams apart lets go and win the league in style

I don't mind losing if theres some desire from the lads but losing AND playing like we cant be arsed? Nobody should settle for that.

Lovren is an easy target Mo was f***in woeful tonight as a number 9 he was sh*te Solanke or Origi would have held the ball up better.
We had chances and didn't take them same story for the last 29 years when the time comes to turn up we never quite make it and now we don't have Stevie to pull us out of the sh*t

Obviously massively disappointing is my immediate reaction.

But you have to look at the bigger picture and put things into perspective. This is our first defeat of the season... in JANUARY.. against a top team at their ground. We are still 4 points ahead of them with some fixtures coming up that allow us to potentially go on another winning run.

It’s not as bad as some of you are making it out to be. It’s not ideal tonight, but my god I would’ve snapped your hand off for the league standings to look like this at the start of season.

Gave my motm to Gigi; worked his socks off. Also thought Fab did well when he came on.

Milner and Lovren had terrible games. Terrible. Trent was also very sloppy. Mane practically a spectator.

Thought Klopp got it wrong with team selection though.

      Whatever. We go again!

Poor poor selection by klopp. How can he pick a slow trio of ginny, hendo and milner against a world class midfield. How many times he needs to make that mistake. City did not beat us, we have simply taken a stick and beat ourselves. We never actually got out of our own half big part of the game.

Pussying around in our own half playing pinball.

      Rubbish performance that.

Sturridge came on in 85th minute (stupidly late) and didn't even get the ball until the 90th minute. Absolutely ridiculous.

Deserved to lose. Yet, so close. 1.2 cm from scoring. Fine margins, but the performance was not good enough, and we were lacking in professionalism. So many sloppy touches, poor passes.. all that stuff.

Yea Studge sub made zero sense the guys legs are done.

Don't understand why Keita wasn't brought on or even Lallana.

Saying we couldn't be arsed is just lazy and in fact insulting to our players. I think maybe we could have been braver but we were still up for it and I think this is one where you just have to say City were the better team. Even with that we had three cleared off the line today and Kompany should have been off.

So now we are left to look at the "positives" following that defeat.

       :f_steam:

      No positives from the defeat.

Only positives from our previous results.

We can b*tch, we can moan, but we did nothing wrong. City had about 4 good chances and made 2 goals, we had about 3 good chances and made 1 goal. That's alright in my book if you play on the road against such quality. Still 4 points up, no further injuries. Next.

It’s weird how people see different games

Thought Gini was awful - poor on the ball , lost runners and offered little - seemed to be running on empty

      Milner just didn’t look fit

Lovren hitting it long with his weak foot from the middle of the pitch was a demoralizing sight there.

Best team won really. We were playing to their tune as is their right at their ground.

      Huge defeat really.

We did dance to their tune and despite our great defensive record this season, playing off the back foot does not suit us. When we got higher in the second half we looked more than a match for them but Loven and TAA came under pressure to much and Klopp should've bolstered our left side.

Still got a decent lead and by far the easier run in.

Don’t think anyone should be doubting our desire. It was a game where it was always going to be very tactical and pressured and everyone trying to stick to their instructions. The days of shouting and screaming and flying into tackles are fading away.

Pissed off we lost to those plastic cu*ts but without being anywhere near our best they needed some massive strokes of luck to what us.

The whole world now will be waiting for us to collapse, now we need to go back and start another run and grind City’s resolve.

Well to be beaten by City is no disgrace... Think we should have started Fab' over Milner, and never should have taken off Mane. a side from that, we were out hustled of the most of it, and i took two great goals to beat us... Would have been nice to be 9 points clear at the top, but I still feel the title is ours to lose, and tonight's loss will take the pressure off the players, especially TAA...

Front three didn't do enough for me against make shift back 4 didnt see anyone run at or commit Laporte or Kompany when on yellows. Fernandino destroyed our Midfield head and shoulders best player on park. Got to pick ourselves up now . Need to get a result at Wolves don't want to lose two on trot before Brighton

Don't understand why Keita wasn't brought on or even Lallana.

Yet he did more in those few touches than many of the lads. Absolutely ridiculous to pretend that his legs are done. The man has such quality. We were crying out for him.

Chelsea was precisely the same. Rubbish performance. About to lose... Boom! Sturridge saved us. Tonight, he didn't get the chance. Crazy decision to keep him on the bench with us losing like that.

On a brighter note, Robertson was immense tonight. The only player who I thought truly won his 1v1 battle. Great decision to play the ball across for the onrushing Firmino instead of shooting like quite a number of players would have done.
