Not a good game from us, but Bayern was worse and a good horse just jumps as high as it must. Still it is time that Ox comes back, or Lallana or Keita get something done, we need a more explosive midfield if we should play Barca, Juve or City.

Shut up you F***ing c**t. The amount of sh*te you spew on here is insufferable.

they will not look past their own prejudice . Jürgen is using the squad to ensure we have players ready and fresh for the run in.
Looks like we are really back to our best at the right time

exactly mate. The squad has been used really well IMO all season, esp. considering the Injuries to CB's, and a few MF's have had some really rough niggly injuries.

Wow, this place can just be unbelievable at times. We have just gone into Bayern's back yard and spanked them. This is a side that contained players like Rodriguez, Ribery, Alcantara, Hummels, Neuer, Rafinha,Martinez, Gnabry & Lewandowski for fucks sake!!! I really do despair sometimes.

That was as professional a performance as you are ever likely to see away from home in Europe. Neither side wanted to make the first move but once Mane opened the scoring with what can only be described as a 'world class' finish then the game fell into our lap.

Once again Jürgen slams the pundits words right back down their F***ing throats. Throw the Champions League? F**k off and die Ratboy. This was a fantastic result and performance and not many outside the Liverpool fraternity envisaged us going through. This will give the squad a massive boost for the Fulham game and hopefully this is where we pick back up and finish the Season strongly. With Gomez and the Ox due back in the coming weeks we are looking good to win both the League and Champions League.

To all those slamming Robbo, get a F***ing grip. He's the best left back in the League who just happened to have an off night, give the lad a break. There have been a few players under performing this Season, Robertson has not been one of them. Milly or Fabinho at left back for the first leg of the quarters and back to normal.

Massive win for the boys last night and it was clear to see what it meant to the Boss. We sent out a message to everyone.

      Well done all.

I cannot blame Robertson for the goal. I don't see what he could have done more... He was aligned with the defense. The player simply made a good run at the perfect time. Sometimes, we have to accept that we'll concede a goal, we were playing against Bayern!

Great performance, but I have to agree with a lad, our midfield lacks creativity. Fortunately everyone played well. VVD and Matip were great and played with so much confidence.

I told my father yesterday that Liverpool hasn't reached the level of last season yet in terms of attacking play. Salah and Firmino are not at their best, but we still manage to win with good performances. :scarf:

But, but...... we can't score goals away to decent opposition with THAT midfield!

Don't Know Vicks', feel it will be incredibly hard for us to sign a top quality striker in the next window with out paying to dollar on wages...Who is going to really want to come knowing they are; (In reality) coming to sit on the bench behind Mane,Firmino & Salah... Unless Klopp decides that he is going to drop Firmino to midfield just behind three strikes...

Hope that we can develop one of the youth into a quality striker to for fill that role...

Thats why I feel its not gonna be a big deal if we do miss out on Werner. Jürgen believes in a fluid front-3 - we have such players, we will profile and we did profile such players (aka Fekir). Its all about adding quality to the squad. We know now Fab is a certain starter but he aint gonna start all games. The front 3 aint gonna start all games.

Fekir or Brandt or Rabiot or whoever coming in know that they were WANTED here by Jürgen and they'll be joining a title challenging squad, will feel as important cogs in that machine! With their quality, some of the current XI would drop to the bench and those guys need to step up in other games to keep the run flowing!

Irrespective of the next 2 and so months, I couldn't be more proud of our team and the manager, unlike a lot of killjoys here!

Hopeless midfield. James Milner was a mare... then bam! Assist from a corner.

Mo not firing and looked in and out throughout... then bam! Assist for Mane.

That’s how hopeless some make us out to be. Indeed!

      What a result that was.
All three goals were class finishes.
Virgils header was brilliant, he towered above Hummels and Martinez and butted it home good style.

Last 20 minutes they looked knackered and their heads dropped.. and as for that Lewandowski, I'm sorry, but he is sh*te !

Felt so sorry for Robbo getting that yellow with about 30 seconds left.

Couldn't care less who we get next round, bring it on !

      Proper result that !!

      Great win.

Watching it again, I think our tactics (partly) were to keep it scrappy in the first half, deny them rhythm, break up their play, and try to push them back, then become a bit more expansive in the 2nd half.

Both teams struggled a bit with their passing, and it looked very much like Bayern were a bit nervous, perhaps because Kovac had set them up to be a bit negative, which allowed us to get at them a bit more 2nd half.

I gave Mane MOTM, with mentions for Salah, Milner and of course VVD.

I love how Robbo commits one foul and gets a yellow. That cheating pr**k Martinez commits three or four blatant ones (shirt pulling, stepping on players, etc...) and never comes close to a yellow.

Yeah, and that dirty little tw*t James should've been red carded as well.

They looked like a Spanish team truth be told, always making a meal out of any contact, waving their hands for yellow cards and always gesticulating towards the ref. It was a bit embarrassing to be honest.

To be fair we wore them down second half and once we got the third we could've took it up another gear and scored more.
Gini wasted a chance ballooning it over the bar when Mo was free to his right in the last few minutes..

Their only player who looked decent on the night was that Coman when he came on, apart from him the rest were sh*te

Think we improved a lot after Fabinho came on. We looked stagnant for the first 13 minutes.

it was a blueprint that has been used so many times by LFC over many years. Keep it tight for the first 20 mins quieten the crowd don't make silly mistakes and get a foothold in the game. Tactical masterclass by Jürgen and the second half was a team perfectly executing the Managers plan. I can imagine the usual numpties not understanding what was going on early on in the game expecting us to come out all guns blazing.
Cant wait for the draw not that bothered who we get but Porto would be nice.

hmmmm, Fab had more misplaced passes than anyone when he came on, could defo see wht klopp rested him.

Was not expecting that to be so easy.

I thought we started great - quieted the crowd and basically completely nullified Bayern. Then got our goal and were in total control. One careless moment and we let them back in. After that both teams looked nervous and it was very bitty, but that still suited us more than them. Once we got the second they just caved basically, and we strolled it.

Sadio MOTM for his goals and general performance. But great to see Mo playing so well too. His touch was great and he was really in the mood to take them on, and caused a lot of problems. His assist for Sadio's 2nd was lovely as well. We haven't seen those 2 play well together very often this season, it's often alternated between 1 good, 1 off form. Good to see them both hitting form in a massive game - they were both key last night.

Not getting into the Fab-Hendo debate here as I was fine, glad even, with Henderson starting, and I'm also very pro-Fabinho.

But your post reminds me of how hard it must be for a player to come in off the bench with almost no warning when a player is injured like that. It would be such a mental and physical challenge to go into that kind of boiler. Everything happening around you must seem that much faster than normal. You've been sitting for a bit and however professional you are about preparing,  you know you're somewhat switched off in pregame when you know you're not starting. Also reminds me of how impressive it was for young Hoever to do what he did when Lovren was injured in the Cup match.

And yes, I think Fab grew in to the match and was a big part of our win.

Looking back at the stats, the only other team to beat Bayern at home in the KO stages since 2013/14:
      2013/14 - Real Madrid 4 - 0
      2016/17 - Real Madrid 2 - 1
      2017/18 - Real Madrid 2 - 1

Not bad company to be in...
