i'm from Australia and came over when i was 21, first game was 1-1 at home against Villa. not the best result but some great memories.. King Kenny in charge, Suarez scores...... Doni in goals?! young Flano getting huge appreciation and support when he came right up where we were to take a throw in or two was magic

Of course I don't know which game it was for you, but here is a lineup from a random  1956 match, September 29 2-0 win vs. Leicester City. You should remember these (back when the numbers told you where they played on the pitch:

      1 - Tommy Younger
      2 - John Molyneux
      3 - Ronnie Moran
      4 - Roy Saunders
      5 - Laurie Hughes
      6 - Barry Wilkinson
      7 - Billy Liddell (c)
      8 - Eric Anderson
      9 - Louis Bimpson
      10 - Jimmy Melia
      11 - Alan A'Court
      Attendance 41,126

      Goals: Melia (68); Liddell (71)

Leicester actually won the 2nd Division that season at 61 points. We were third at 53 points.

You know what Robbie, as my birthday is on Sept 24th, that could well have been the very match. It could well have been s B day pressie.
As for the lineup, I wouldn’t have a clue now, but some of the names there, I became familiar with as the years went by were,
Ronnie Moran. Laurie Hughs. Billy Liddell. Jimmy Melia and Alan A’court.
      Cheers for that.

Laurie Hughes had a chip shop in Litherland when he retired from football.he was a centre half in old money and I can still picture him with his hair  plastered with brylcream and not a hair out of place. He got in a bit of trouble with the law and from memory it had to do with cigarettes.Laurie was a scouser and was an England international as well.Glad to see my all time hero Billy Liddell get a mention as well.

Did lifting kids over the turnstiles happen at Anfield back in the day?

I have memories of squeezing through with my Dad.
Back in them days, a lot of blokes used to wear a suit and overcoat, and he used to throw it over me as a joke that he was hiding me.

It was a lot different back then.
A nod and a wink, and that was it.
Of course the game wasn't all about money then, either.

Alan A Court was at Prescot Grammar ( well before me ....started there the year after I was born)

Born Rainhill joined the Reds from Prescot Cables at 18.

Was sold in 1964 to Tranmere Rovers.

      Passed away in 2009. R.I.P.

My first game in attendance was the FA Cup in January 2012.

I was in the Kop for a last minute Dirk Kuyt winner when the King was back in charge.

It was the time around the Evra/Suarez debacle.

No idea why, but I always forget Peter Cormack.
Odd because he was a really good player.

I was at that game against the Mancs in the Paddock which I hate as you watch it knee height but Evra got some stick at least.

Bill Shankly reckoned that Peter Cormack was the missing piece in the jigsaw. You are right he was a good player.

One of those midfielders that just seemed to have a bit of extra time and space.
He was a good passer as well, but it seems a lot of what he did went unnoticed. one of those players who you don't realise how important he is until he's not there.

as was Bobby Graham who often gets over looked. Another Great Scot who brought a touch of class and goals to the team.

First Liverpool player to score a European goal.. His brother, Frazer, is a mate of mine at my golf club.

think he played for Tranmere too. Silky smooth player. I think he would have been one of those players who would have excelled in todays game especially playing on todays perfect pitches

Liverpool vs Aston Villa, 3-3 27th September 1986. Great Experience and had me hooked from then on. My brother managed to break one of the seats in the main stand. John Wark scores two I seem to remember.

Think Tommy Smith threatened to break his legs when he went past Smith a couple of times in his early days at Ipswich.

Made me laugh when I read the story.

Be worth a fortune these days; a midfielder who scored lots of goals (be nice to have the likes again!).

1987 Liverpool v Denmark believe it or not....I'd have been  8 years old remember it vividly sat in the old Anfield Road end when there was still a standing section in the corner of Anny road and Kemlyn road stands  for away fans. I can proudly say like the song I watched the King Kenny play...

It was a friendly obviously. Might've been connected to Jan Molby's transfer as he was a LFC player at the time as he turned out for the Denmark select X1. Ken DeMange played for Liverpool but during his 4 years here he never played a recognised first team game.
