Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur: In game and Post Match discussion
      Mar 31, 2019 03:31:47 pm
      Are you ready?

Liverpool return to action following the international break with a meeting with Tottenham at Anfield this afternoon.

A win over Mauricio Pochettino's third-placed side would lift the Reds back to the top of the Premier League.

      Line-up:

      Anfield:

      Team Comparison:

      Klopp's pre-match presser:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rRrf7W64lw

      Did you know?

Sadio Mane has scored in Liverpool's last six home top-flight games.

Should the No.10 do so again today, he'll become only the fourth player to net in seven successive matches at Anfield in the Premier League. Fernando Torres went on a record run of eight.

Here's a few factoids to keep you entertained as we await kick-off...

The Reds are two goals short of 400 in all competitions under Jürgen Klopp

Liverpool have lost just one of the last 24 top-flight meetings at Anfield

They have netted 90 times against Spurs in the Premier League, only doing so more in matches with Newcastle United (95) during the same period

      News:

Two changes for the Reds from the team deployed at Fulham in our last outing before the international break.

Jordan Henderson and James Milner are in for Fabinho and Adam Lallana, who are on the bench along with the fit-again Xherdan Shaqiri.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Milner, Mane, Salah, Firmino

Substitutes: Mignolet, Fabinho, Lovren, Keita, Lallana, Shaqiri, Origi

Tottenham: Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Rose, Sissoko, Eriksen, Dele, Lucas, Kane

Substitutes: Gazzaniga, Davies, Foyth, Skipp, Wanyama, Son, Llorente

Let’s do this. Milner, Henderson and Wijnaldum to chase every ball across every blade of grass on the pitch.

Yep, on the front foot and counter pressing, that's how you get the best out of that midfield.

Usual midfield for the big games.

Expecting a Harry Kane goal so hope we've brought out shooting boots.  Hopefully the break has been good for Mo.

Only 79 shots on goal faced is an incredible stat.

Klopp going with solidity in midfield, as he usually does for the bigger games, then will probably open it up a bit in the second half, around the 60-70 minute mark.

Hopefully, we get an early goal to make them come out a bit, but I can see this being a bit of a cagey affair for most of the match.

FYI, in my book, cagey doesn't mean boring, it means tactical discipline.
It may not be pretty for some to watch, but I enjoy it.

Decent options off the bench as well.

Pretty much as expected at this point.

Need Milly to be supporting those attacks given they're playing 5 at the back.

Mo could have a field day if Rose gets up the pitch like he usually does.

Kane will probably score so we'll need a couple to get the three points. Fingers crossed they boys get it done.

      3-1.

EDIT: Sturridge isn't injured so he's fallen way off!

Would have gone for Fab instead of either Milner or Hendo but knew it wouldn’t be the case. Can’t help but feel that when Hendo and Milner are both playing, it puts too much reliance on the front 3.

Not going to be an easy game this.

Can’t see a reason for starting Henderson ahead of Fab.

Should still be good enough to beat them at home.
