I was thirty six at the time. Still playing, and during our game, was getting messages there was trouble at Hillsborough. At the time it was thought to be hooligans, then we heard that lives had been lost and as an exiled scouse was thinking. ’ WTF we don’t need this’
After the game the truth unfolded and everyone was mortified. Just total silence in the club house following the updates and feeling totally helpless.
Horrible, horrible day, etched in my memory.
Had family in the stand, who’s wife decided not to go. If she had they would have been together in leppings lane in stead !
Swapped their tickets 2 for 1.
Never known if the ‘two’ perished that day or not.
Not sure I want to know to be fair.
96 wasted lives due to incompetence  and arrogance of the highest order.

30 years on and still the images i saw on grandstand are etched on my memory

Same here, I was almost 10 years old at my Grans decked out in my full Candy Liverpool kit excited about us being in a semi final, the game wasn't on telly but was watching grandstand for updates on the game. As a kid you don't always understand the full severity not immediately anyway but in the hours after I knew even at that age this was horrific. YNWA

Was 12 years old when this tragedy occurred. It's mad how i can forget what i went upstairs for but can remember this tragedy as if it was yesterday. I think of the hurt i feel every time this subject is brought up so i cannot even begin to comprehend the emotions it brings up for those who were directly involved in the tragedy. It is a testament to their families love, courage and boundless determination that true justice is still being fought for.

30 years, think about that? 30 years on and still fighting with all they have, that's some serious attrition.

In my eyes there is only one true justice for the crimes committed by the various members of certain establishments. Now is not the time for airing those views.

96 Warriors. Gone but never ever forgotten.

Was just a kid when I watched the sequence of events unfold on the telly.

It should never have happened. They only went to a football match.

We'll never forget them. And they'll be with us when we win the league this year.

This picture always sends chills down my spine. The 96 will forever be remembered. YNWA.

On this sad anniversary, I thought this deserved a showing in memory of our fellow Reds who died in Sheffield so many years ago.  You will never be forgotten.

      Very sad day as always.

They will never forgotten, thoughts are with the families and friends of those that were taken on that fateful day, and of course those who have passed who fought for, but never got justice and peace that they so rightfully deserved.

      RIP.

I’m not a religious fella in any way shape or form, although born a Christian I’m no believer, I was 28 years old in ‘89’ and luck was definitely shining for me that horrible day,

13 of us travelled to Sheffield that day in a works van, 4 of us had tickets, we landed at a boozer, parked the van and that was that, the day had begun, within 15 mins I had a ticket for the Leppings lane block C, I was totally made up , as the day wore on it got better and better, had a few ales, everyone singing having a blast, after a while a mate asked me what ticket I had, Seen what it was and asked if I would mind swapping with this other fella his mate, I did and then sat in the stand above the central pen, I didn’t care I was there to watch my beloved Reds in a Cup Semi Final, I missed the one the year before so you can imagine my excitement,

I dunno what would have happened had I not swapped, I don’t care to think about it to be honest, all I know is I was extremely lucky, I’ve never really told my story before, I dunno why I have today, today and for a lot of other times throughout the year I think about those poor souls who never Came home, i think about their poor families and their suffering, I can’t imagine the pain they will feel today when all the dreadful memories go through their minds, I will never forget that day, nor can I ever forget those who we lost,  NEVER FORGET !

       RIP 96

My daughter was 6 months old when Hillsborough happened, I would have been there had I not had a baby, I'd been at Heysel 4 years earlier. I remember the day like it was yesterday as I nursed my baby with an open mouth watching the horror unfold in front of me, such a tragic day.

We will never forget, nor should we. YNWA.
