Liverpool 5-0 Huddersfield Town: In game and Post Match discussion
      Apr 26, 2019 07:01:20 pm

Anfield waiting to start the weekend on a high

Starting XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Keita, Mane, Salah, Sturridge.

Subs: Mignolet, Milner, Gomez, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri, Origi, Matip.

Daniel Sturridge starts and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the bench as Liverpool make two changes for tonight’s Premier League clash with Huddersfield Town at Anfield.

Sturridge replaces Roberto Firmino in the line-up, with the Brazilian ruled out due to a slight muscle strain.

Meanwhile, Oxlade-Chamberlain returns to the Reds’ matchday squad for the first time since sustaining a knee injury against AS Roma at Anfield one year ago.

Elsewhere, Dejan Lovren comes in for Joel Matip in defence, while Fabinho misses out due to the effects of the clash of heads at Cardiff City last weekend.

Liverpool's principal owner John W Henry at Anfield tonight to watch Klopp's men attempt to regain top spot in the PL table.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been named in Liverpool’s matchday squad for tonight’s Premier League clash with Huddersfield Town at Anfield.

Exactly one year and two days on from sustaining a serious knee injury against AS Roma in the Champions League semi-final, first leg, the midfielder returns to the Reds’ 18 for the first time.

During his lengthy rehabilitation programme, Oxlade-Chamberlain has figured twice for the club’s U23 line-ups in recent weeks, at Derby County and Leicester City.

Great to see the Ox back! That’s a big boost, here’s hoping we can get ahead a couple of goals and give him some minutes. Not sure about Studge, I’d have preferred Shaq or Origi to be honest.

Just got to win and force City to do the same against Burnley this weekend.

Potentially Sturridge’s last start in an LFC kit this.

No Shaq with Bobby out is weird.

Gomez on bench must mean he’s playing against Barca?

Klopp on Firmino, "It’s not a big thing but was enough to leave him out today, that’s all.”

I like Sturridge to score today. Just a hunch. Would be a great story as part of a win.

Klopp on Firmino's absence tonight, "Actually, yesterday after training he mentioned a little muscle issue. We assess it obviously, it's not a big thing, but was enough to leave him out today, that's all."

      He will score :)

No Fabinho or Firmino which isn’t ideal, but certainly enough to beat Huddersfield.

Rumours about Firmino.. then we find out he's not in the squad...  :o

Just need to get the goals flowing tonight. Early goal to settle any nerves, and crack on from there.

Don’t make much of Lovren and Sturridge starting, would have liked to see Gomez and Shaqiri starting.

      Good to see Ox back.

Personally think Salah or Mane should be playing centre of the front 3 with one of Origi or Shaq as Stu has looked so far off the pace the season whenever he has come off the bench.

Can see your point.  I suppose though with 4 games in the next 14 days the latter two may have more chance of being involved? If it is Sturridge's last appearance probably more fitting to give him it at Anfield than away at St James Park though?
