      Pre-Match: Newcastle United V Liverpool (04/05/19 - 19:45)
      May 02, 2019 09:46:04 am

This season is far from over and we can go back top with a win here putting the pressure firmly back on City.

A frustrating night in Barcelona but lets not forget we actually played well. Expect a backlash from the Reds! 0-2 Redmen!!  :kop5cf8koxp6: :kop5cf8koxp6:

The lads have nothing to feel down about, they played well last night and I expect us to take it out on the Geordies (through no fault of their's) and take some momentum into the Barca return leg.

Would you drop those 2 sh*t players you want sold Mane and Salah for this must win game as they never produce when the pressure is on...???

Think it will be Lovren in for Matip, even though I think Matip played well vs Barca, I think Klopp will just change it up a bit.

Think we could possibly see Shaqiri come into the team in place of Wijnaldum and switch the formation to a 4-2-3-1.

Expect Trent in for Gomez and Ox to play some part.

It is what it is, a must win game and we need to bounce back.

Got a feeling we may huff & puff a bit after last night; uncomfortable 2-1 win with Salah scoring a worldy after missing the tap-in last night!

I think your first post was deleted by the mods for being irrelevant and bullying in nature, especially since this rather pathetic attack on me is occurring on two threads.

How it is irrelevant I am asking you a direct question on your choice of team as you don't rate the players I mentioned.

We need to just go do the job and be ruthless if we need to be. Score as many goals as possible and hope Leicester can at least get a draw on Monday.

If we don't come out full throttle with a point to prove after Wednesday then I'll be quite surprised. I think Newcastle will feel the full effect of our defeat to Barca, the players will still be hurting after that unfair score line.

I'm going for 3-0 to us.

Try to be as positive as possible, Newcastle always a tricky game. Play to our strengths, should be too much for the home side. At least going with an away win.

Just no injuries. I want us to beat Barca and get some pride back. I know, one game at a time, but that's for players and managers. I just want us to blitz Barca.

Newcastle are not a dirty team are they, well with the exception of looney Shelvey!

BTW St James' Park is not a happy hunting ground for us, the last time we won there was back in 2013, mind you we did win 6-0 that day! Since then a lot of draws and a few defeats, time to get back into 2013 mode and reverse that stat, same as we did with the Chelsea stat where we hadn't beaten them at home since 2012!

Not dirty, but we have picked up two key injuries in the past 7-10 days. We've played a lot of matches and well, it just happens. But in the presser today, Jürgen didn't sound too likely to have Firmino on from the start. That may be with an eye on Tuesday so then the same question I started the first leg pre match thread with applies:who do we start if Bobby can't go?

(Btw a number of you did expect four midfielders for that, although I don't know anybody foresaw Gini being pushed up)

For Saturday I expect Origi in a front three.

Difficult game against a very well organised Rafa side who are playing without the threat of relegation. Does Klopp play our strongest 11 and then put our title hopes firmly in the hands of Leicester or does he save a bit for Wednesday still in the hope of turning in a comeback from 3 zip down? I would expect him to rotate a few players for this one. I think Ox might play a part, Trent will start, Lovren will play and I wonder if Shaqiri even gets a game. No Sturridge please.

Does anyone know if Perez is fit for them? I know he came off with a hip injury last weekend, big boost if he's not fit.

Got to finish the job and force City to win out.

I think we can definitely play Joe, Ox and I'd also play Shaquiri, we need to give all these guys some more game time in case we need them in the remaining games. If Bobby is rested then I'd like to see Shaquiri alongside Mo and and Sadio to really stretch and probe at the Newcastle defence.

The fullbacks and the midfielders are those for whom three matches in 6 days take the biggest toll, but remember we are looking at only 3 or 4 matches total remaining this season. Trent was kept out Wednesday, and there will be at least one change in midfield for Saturday with Naby out. If there is another position to change it might be left back, in which case I'd expect Milner to play there if Jürgen opts to rest Robbo (with Henderson, Gini and Fabinho in midfield and Origi up front with Mo and Sadio).

You need to figure out who you support, Rafa or Liverpool FC?
I want us to annihilate every single team we play, especially in this case as we will need every little bit of momentum we can build up for Tuesday, not some limp dick squeeky 1 nil win or a draw just to make sure Rafa or the Geordies doesn't feel to sad.

The season for me will be won or lost this weekend imo, if City were to drop points V Leicester we will clinch it at Home V Wolves, if not, i honestly can't see the Seagull's shitting on City's parade last game.

Agree with the team except Gomez, I see Lovren playing with Matip rested for Barcelona.

      Otherwise full strength.

      Subs bench no idea though.

      Back on topic....

....Absolutely no time nor place for sentiment at this or any part of the season, love Rafa to bits but even he wouldn't want us going soft on him or his player's,
If we f***in Smash em, fine by me, i don't think we will tho, but will win with  relative comfort,
The season for me will be won or lost this weekend imo, if City were to drop points V Leicester we will clinch it at Home V Wolves, if not, i honestly can't see the Seagull's shitting on City's parade last game.

Guys I will not do the last three Live thread because I never won a final with them! I need to break this bad superstition! Hope whoever do them put the same effort in them.

We need to get back to business and beat them. We need a put pressure back on City for Monday.

      Come on Reds.

Strange to think that the fate of the Premiership this year is in the hands of the teams of our two previous managers.

Perez and lacasheles who missed the last game are both fit. There was talk of him going to Liverpool last summer Good defender and I like schar too. . Benitez says he desperate for the win. I don't think it be easy hope Bobby is now fit. Think we win out 2-1. Come on you reds. Ynwa

How the f**k is Perez fit he limped off after just 20 minutes last game didn't he, tough tackle on him in the opening few minutes I think, take him out again.
In any case even full strength we should beat Newcastle.

KDB went off on a stretcher at one point last season, looked to be a bad knee injury....played the next week. Some players are lucky.

But whether Perez plays or not, it shouldn’t change the outcome of who gets 3 points. We should be winning this match regardless of who is able to play for them.

The disappointment after Barca has faded a bit, good to have another game to focus before we meet them again.
Have to win as usual. Plus loosing before the 2nd leg wouldn't be good prep for that either.
Another huge game, but would expect some changes to come in all the same. I might go with:

                 Alisson
      Milner Gomez VVD Robbo
          Gini Hendo AOC
          Salah Mane Origi

And save TAA, Fab, Matip and maybe Bob for Tuesday.
Obviously need 3 points here, but am coming around to think Tues ain't impossible, get 2-0 up by half time and it's back in the mix :)

Whatever changes are made know the boss will put us in the best position [though doubt we'll see Gini up top again :) ]

Looking forward to seeing Rafa, nice to line up against him - but still hope will rip them a new one.

Looking forwards to what should be a good, if tense match.
Hopefully we can get a goal early on.
The tactical battle is going to be brilliant. 2 master tacticians trying to best each other.
I think Klopp has the edge, in his more fluid approach, but it's never wise to underestimate Rafa.

Agree this will be closely-fought. In just a week or two the season will be over and we don't get the great experience of watching this great side for a while. My nerves could probably use the break, but mostly I will just miss seeing it.

Still some excitement to go before that, i hope.

Well the manager at Tesco here, who's a Villa fan, reckons we'll turn over Barca, and that city will drop points to Leicester, so let's hope he's right
