I'd happily see Phil back in some sort of testimonial/legends capacity years from now. No hard feelings with the move as time heals all that sh*t.

Not as a pro footballer earning a wage though because he's not good enough.

For me you should be a legend to come back, and he’s not one of those ( disclaimer I know a lot who play in those games aren’t and it always makes me laugh)

Suarez wouldn’t get a call from me either

We improved as a team after he left.

Brought in two players to turn the team from close to winners

We also didn’t drop as an attacking unit losing him

He was a good player - it’s still amazing that Barcelona paid so much for him

But like Torres , Suarez and Mascherano amongst others - they were desperate to jump ship so wouldn’t welcome any of them back

Mascherano wasn't desperate to leave. LFC PR bullshit that. He had no option, Purslow sold him to get the dough to pay off the loan servicing the debt. Same reason we got rid of Xabi. Just like Mascherano never said he didn't want to play against City, he wasn't goven the option.

Same with Torres, in reality he didn't jump ship, WE SOLD HIM!!

I know this could be unpopular with a lot of people on here but does a (very) cheap loan deal get us through the AFCON issue?

Torres ,Masch and Alonso just about £300mil of players then in todays money. People forget what Rafa had to deal with the behind the scenes bollox maybe it was preparation for his current role in the pit of doom

I would be happy if we can sign Coutinho back for free as it then means we get Virgil and Ali for free haha ;D
Then a year later let him leave for Newcastle for about 100million, haha that can be  a F***ing world record of football player transfer profit ;D

Don't ask me why but i have a funny feeling that Gerrard is going to try and get him at Villa.

Just a funny feeling. Gerrard is on the hunt for players.

Doubt they could afford his wage to be honest. Also Gerrard strikes me as a manager who expects loyalty from his players, and having seen how Coutinho conducted himself with us, would he really take a player that will soon be faking a back injury if he hits good form again and has the chance to go to a better team?

Ultimately he'll be forever the greatest Moneyball signing LFC ever made,
which allowed the team to be strenghtened elsewhere.

Loved having Coutinho at the club, but wouldn't swap Virgil and Alisson for anything.

      Nailed it.

Take him back for free.......? I mean.....it could be a laugh.....

I was against it but at this point, I’d probably take him back.

Don’t think Klopp wants him though.

Amen. Some things should stand above success. Guys like C. must not play for this club again, no matter what. He wanted out, now let him rot there.

Even if he was still the player that left I wouldn't take him back. The man faked a back injury and downed tools and allowed his agent to get barca to bid the day of a crucial championd league qualifier that his team mates spent the whole of the previous season fighting for.

Thanks for the memories Phil. But you made your bed. Lie in it.

For that money it's a no brainer.  For any club other than us.

      We've moved on from him.
