      Women's World Cup 2019
      Jun 11, 2019 02:51:32 pm
Dunno if it's worth a new thread but anyone watching the womens world cup? Yanks go for the first time today, wouldn't be surprised if they get to double figures against Thailand, unless they get play nicely instructions! Watched England V Scotland,England were awful in the second half, scots unlucky not to get a point.Had the Norway v Nigeria game on at the pub saturday,no one else watching.Still issues getting people to watch the games over here unless  USA is playing?

I watched the Canada game, good result but scrappy performance. I guess the stiffer test will come the next match vs Holland.

I hope to catch some of the US games. Thailand may be a route but overall i think their games are pretty good.

13-0 is just embarrassing for the sport, shows the lack of quality in the Woman's game.

Agree. I'm not a big follower of the women's game, but do not believe there are that many good (national) teams out there.

Aside from the 13-0 result the scores from the rest of the matches don't show that much gap between nations that we have not seen in other international tourneys. I guess Thailand are just a really really poor side

Yes Thailand are really poor whilst USA are the champions in waiting, but even the game against France and Norway yesterday showed a big gulf in class (France being considerably better) and Norway is considered one of the better teams, or at least they used to be.

started to watch a few games but its not for me. This is why non league football isn't on SKY every sunday afternoon the quality just isn't there. They can promote it as much as they want and they can say the England Women's team deserve the same pay as the men but they are kidding themselves.

Hmm, Germany scored 8 against Estonia same day, germany beat brazil 7-1 in a semi-final,didn't see too many complaining about the gulf in class? Wasn't unexpected the USA scoring a hatefull,my only issue was the overcelebration when ya get past  7.8 etc, but hey they're americans, disappointed if ya don't high -five them  for F***ing corners!

Just as an aside are there any women that post on this site?

Big difference between a result in qualifying group and in the actual world cup, supposed to be between the worlds best, though isn't there?

Nope, it's so far a one off result, has no real baring on how the rest of the tourny will go or womens football in general.Just like Brazil losing 7-1 at home in a world cup semi-final,was no condemnation of the shiteness of mens football?

It is what it is. Women will never be as good as men in sports that require physicality, and no denying the quality of women's football is up there with boy's U-15 level. If you can accept that and just watch the women's world cup for what it is, it's actually quite enjoyable.... ish!

Go research and you will find the Women's USA and Australian's NT lost to Under 15 boys. I am sure there are more losses not made public too.

Yep, they routinely play against U-16 teams and get manhandled. (Poor choice of words maybe?)

Although I do usually enjoy watching our women's team because they honestly play better and hard than the men's team ;D
