its the continued "hype" about Woman's football that puts me off because it just isn't that good to watch. Its constantly being compared to the mens game which is just nonsense I suspect there isn't a mans team in any of the pro or semi pro leagues that couldn't beat the World Champions.
The BBC going on about reaching our first World Cup final since 1966 which is just nonsense.
If they just let the game develop it will improve just stop with the hype.

So i've seen today's game mentioned as a bronze medal game,do they get different colored medals or is it just to glam up the meaningless we're number 3 game?

4 years on after sacking the manager the "lionesses" go from 3rd to 4th under the guidance of the other half of the chuckle brothers.
Their collective success as football manager is truly inspiring

Entertaining 1st half. US got lucky at the end with the Dutch unable to capitalize but for the most part dominated the half. Dutch goalie with a few clutch saves.

Terrific goal by Lavelle. That’s what the Dutch player should have done a few minutes earlier instead of dribbling too many times.

So USA win, wow that's a bigger surprise than Hamilton winning every fecking F1 race! ;-)
On a serious note well done to the US Team, by far the best team in the tournament, but some other nations need to step up otherwise the US are going to win this every time and that will kill all interest in it.

4 years is a long time and the team will turn over.  A player like Rapinoe who is very good at her position probably played her last world cup at 34yo.

Today was a close game and if the Dutch had been a little more clinical they could have made the US team very nervous.

Glad that's all over now. USA won the Women's VAR World Cup. Was it ever in doubt?
No doubt we'll hear about their latest demands to be paid huge salaries for this over exaggerated achievement.

Would have been worse if England had won it though. They would have been boasting about their greatest football achievement.  ;D

If you think the outcome was predictable, just wait til the Brazil-Peru game.

Brazil, in a final at home in the Maracana. I'm sure the referring will be neutral and Peru is geared for an upset, right?

Heck, the ref's family is probably already been kidnapped.

As long as Bobby and Alisson don't get injured, I couldn't give a toss what the result is.

Not too sure what relevance that has to my post though and the women's World Cup. I was highlighting the gulf in quality between the USA and everyone else, highlighted by the fact this was their 3rd final in a row?

Don't think I will watch Women's football for a while. I have given it a good go, even at club level last season, but it's just so so so so poor and frustrating to watch.

I take the point but then again men's teams have also played 3 finals in a row before!
In any case, I think the gap will surely be narrowed in the future. Lots of countries have only started supporting women's football more seriously a lot more recently than the US. Take Brazil, for instance: that they have even reached a final in the past is incredible given how little support they receive; but now, finally, all clubs in the top divisions must have a women's team and that will inevitably give players a lot more chances, experience, etc. I feel that similar initiatives are happening in many different countries. The game will develop.

I understand that watching women's football may not be so entertaining but if you ban women from playing the sport for some 6 decades, then attach to those that dare to play all kinds of prejudice, you can't really expect the sport to be at an exceptionally high level. It's improving though.

Congratulations to the USA! Going to be fun to see what the other players decide about going to the White House ;D

Which made it just as predictable IMO. Spain as a quick example- won the Euros in 2008, it then seemed obvious they would go on and win the World Cup, then retain the Euros because they were head and shoulders above the rest then.
I have no problem with the USA team winning it again, they just happen to be the dominant team at the moment and have the best set up so it was always going to make them the clear favourites IMO. Someone else will come along and take their place one day, just like Spain fell off their perch. Just how it goes.
