As Diego points out, the US is ahead because in this country, girls playing soccer has been a thing now for a while. The best women’s athletes know that they can represent their country and play on a high level team so there are tons of girls playing here from a young age and because of our population we have a lot to pick from. The men’s side on the other hand, the best male athletes in the country are still fed the line that they have to play football 🏈, basketball or baseball. So we get transcendent type athletes in those sports all the time, but we can’t convince any of them to play soccer instead. Imagine we got a Lebron James, Bryce Harper, Odell Beckham type athlete to play soccer instead of their respective sport.....we could actually field a decent men’s team. But alas soccer here still just doesn’t have the entrenchment and the draw for the best athletes that it does in other countries that value it more. It’s sad.

Is there any change to the Men's game or is it still very much a 4th/5th choice sport?

So i've seen today's game mentioned as a bronze medal game,do they get different colored medals or is it just to glam up the meaningless we're number 3 game?

The winners get bronze medals, as at e.g. Olympic Games. Something for the players to take home from the tournament. The losers get to pack up and go home, like all the other losers before them.

A camera cannot be conned, so the VAR team spotted the handball that ultimately decided the contest. That is their job. It's not "micro management", it's enforcing the laws when they should be, not opening a token investigation into the incident 3 days later, after the damage is done and everyone has gone home.
