Putting the football and rivalries to one side, I have to say I continue to be so impressed by these England lads.

      Fearless, intelligent, wanting change.

No wonder Boris is running scared of Rashford and co.

Can not see fifa awarding 2030 World Cup to England

It looked a free for all.  And as the person said in their statement, pretty dangerous.

You shouldn't have been able to get onto Wembley way without a match ticket - its as simple as that.  This may have been the plan but I saw videos of the barricades being pushed over so that could have part of it.

What an embarrassing night for England fans. There's idiots supporting every club and nation but there is something about England which seems to concentrate the stupidity.

There won't be another major tournament in England for the foreseeable future after the fans behaviour, and that's not even talking about the violence Italian fans faced before and after the game. Videos of fights, a fan being thrown in the river, the chaos in Piccadilly. An Italian girl I know had someone threaten to stab her and her friends.

And then you have the abuse the three lads suffered online... Shameful all round and an embarrassment to everyone.

Shame as it was a good tournament with some great football and superb games. Credit to Italy, who in beating Spain, Belgium and England (at Wembley) thoroughly deserved the trophy.

      Quote from YANK_LFC_FAN
Yeah I know he was subbed off but my point is, why? Hendo is the Liverpool captain who won 4 Trophies in a 12 month span. He would of buried his PK. Instead they put it all on a 19yr old. I dont understand the rationalization of that decision.

When he subbed his sub in the semi final, he was praised for being brave enough to make tough decisions. When he did it to Hendo again in the final, he takes the blame. When England went ahead, they did what you expected them to do, start defending. They've done it all tournament, they done it in the last tournament, it's the default reaction they have when they go ahead under that manager. He builds his teams on pragmatic safety first football which will never change. When it works as it did until this game, people wanted him knighted. When it doesn't, he's "Ole in disguise". That's what losing a penalty shoot out does to people.

Experienced players have missed penalties in this tournament, they missed them in penalty shoot outs, they even missed them in the final. Kane missed one in the last game and he's played every game. Penalty taking is a basic skill of the game, at whatever level you play at, whether you play 2 minutes or every game. No matter what age you are, it's one free shot at goal, you v the keeper. So you either can do it or you can't. If you can fair enough, if you can't, you accept it as part of football and you move on.

Until literally the last kick of the tournament, everything that could go England's way went their way. The groups, the schedule, the venue, the crowds, the travel, the knockouts, the 50-50 decisions from the refs, the squad depth, the final, the fans, even the end to take penalties in the final went their way as well. But this is the hardest competition to win in European football. Italy had not won it in over 50 years, England not at all. It's not like the European Cup, where you can always try again next year. You can't do that in this competition.

No host nation has won the Euros since 1984. No team has won the European Cup when playing the final in their home ground. The home team lost the CA at the weekend. The pressure to win at home must get to teams. Whether there's fans or whether there's not, it seems home advantage isn't much of an advantage when it's a one shot, winner takes all, cup final. Maybe England can have another go at winning a trophy in another 55 years, as they won't get everything as convenient again for about that length of time, if at all.

In a tournament heavy on symbolism, maybe Eriksen should have got the player of the tournament award, after what he went through. Ok he may not have done a lot himself, but what happened to him carried his team as far as they did, and reminded us all of where football fits in the bigger picture.

Meanwhile, Big Joke can put his England shirt away for the next 17 months and while he's doing it, he can get all those England flags ripped off his doorstep, he's supposed to represent 4 nations, not 1. As regards their fans, from years of experience we all know what they're capable of, so nobody should be shocked anymore at what they get up to. Trying to keep control of their actions when they're sober is difficult enough, when they're not, it's impossible. 53 other nations were eliminated from the tournament before them, now they know how everyone else felt over the past 3 years.

There can only be one winner however. As is usually the case the best team won the competition, and the Italians did the job. So for now at least, Football's Going Rome.

Because she gets involved  in dog whistle politics and tory or no tory is absolutely useless at her job.

Firmly put in her place there by Mings. The beginning of the end for her.
