By all accounts pre season was a big mess for one reason or another. All the international tournaments not helping at all.

But on the stuff we can control I hope Klopp has fed back to the people that matter that we need to organise our pre season schedule better ourselves. We need to find a balance of what works for the team and what works for the bank balance.

As for the game yesterday it was tortuous stuff at times, still fully worth it though to bring another trophy home and another to Klopps name. He is doing a great job.

Does that take into account the change in amount of points for a win?

      Apparently it does.

I just did the Math for Bob Paisley and indeed it makes the adjustment. That is really quite remarkable considering the team Jürgen inherited vs. the team Bob took over. The older teams also played in a 22-team league so the quality of opposition would have been a little more diluted.

Great article from James Pearce in The Athletic detailing how Jürgen and staff managed the turnaround from late Wednesday night in Istanbul to Saturday afternoon at Southampton.

The sport science part is obviously huge, with the squad members who didn't play going through a core session at their hotel early Thursday morning, a NASA-developed ice pack being used during the flight home. Psychology comes into it as Jürgen talked to the team about not being interested in excuses despite himself being unhappy that the Saturday match wasn't moved back a day.

The team had just an hour's training Friday plus a short video session where they went over Southampton's strengths and weaknesses, plus set piece tendencies (coaching staff had studied this and devised a plan during the flight back and after). Nutrition and rest were also preached but care was made to not overload the players with information during the short turnaround. The group flew that evening to Southampton, had a meal and went to bed, with physios working on Adrian's ankle all the while. Saturday morning the team went on a group walk, and then the match.

The main halftime adjustment was to get the fullbacks and midfielders more involved in attack. The limitations to this were evident given how tired everyone was, but the difference was evident for 25-30 minutes, which along with the brilliance of the two goals, was enough.

Players were given Sunday and Monday off and then they'll be back at it tomorrow, with 3-4 days proper training for Arsenal and, I predict, a top drawer performance and three points.

Doing some good stuff is James with that athletic mob.

Also it was pretty poor by the FA, League etc. not to move our game to at least a sunday afternoon KO.

Jürgen can leave when Stevie is in a position to take over and not B4.So that looks like another 4 or 5 years.

Only if Stevie has earned the status as a coach by then forget the sentiment.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if he leaves in May, 2022. Maybe he retires or maybe after a year off he takes over at Germany for the 2024 Euro and 2026 World Cup cycle.

Nearly 7 seasons with us would track wih his other stops, but of course there is no way to know how he feels at that point. One thing for sure: none of this is posturing. He's just honest.

I'll just focus on enjoying these next three seasons and not worry about it. Should make for some great memories.

Also reported in the F***ing rag we all hate from a link in some Spanish comic, none story mate.

It's F***ing guesswork 'cos he spent 7 years at his previous clubs and they apply that figure with his time here, the rag is first in rubbing its nose in sh*t again,

Yep, think it might be Pepijn Lijnders, who may take over when Klopp calls it quit.

LOVE the comments from Jürgen in this article by Richard Jolly. He discusses squad depth, conditioning, preseason regimen, Mane's break and the team performance Saturday.

      Enjoy.
