Liverpool 2:2 Sporting Pre Season Friendly Thurs 25th July
      Jul 24, 2019 01:44:07 pm
My first post on here for a while, after 2 wins and 2 defeats so far in pre season, we look to get back to winning ways and, more importantly, improve fitness levels a bit more.

We face Sporting, who’s team includes two former Reds - Seb Coates and Tiago Ilori, recently acquired Rafa Camacho isn’t in the squad.

I think Lallana is fit to play after missing the Sevilla game.

Larouci will obviously miss out after being on the end of that shocking tackle the other night.

I’m still expecting many changes during the game, some at half time and some around 60 minutes.

I’d start with the following side, subs coming on at some point, in brackets.

      Mignolet (Lonergan)

      Alexander-Arnold (Hoever)
      Gomez (Matip)
      Van Dijk (Lovren)
      Robertson (Lewis)

      Wijnaldum (Oxlade-Chamberlain)
      Henderson (c) (Fabinho)
      Lallana (Milner (c))

      Wilson (Jones)
      Origi (Brewster)
      Woodburn (Kent)

      Subs:

      Atherton
      Phillips
      Duncan

Got to say given the amount of players still to come back, we are looking good for cover all positions.

Not sure about predicting the score line, but I’m sure we can win this one 👍🏼😎

Wonder if he might go with the strongest lineup available for as long as they can go. I know that would bring debate about the midfield and who partners Virgil. I would like to see Rhian play with Divock on his left.

Not so fast on Clyne. Reading he's been ruled out for 6 months?  :f_doh:

F**k sake there goes any chance of selling him now.

Stuck with him for another year injured until we release him next June.

Maybe harsh but my heart is with the club not players who shouldn't still be here.

No doubt Clyne was set to be sold before the window closed.

The combined potential sale fee and wages we now have to pay out for another season could have went towards pay rises for players who deserve to be here.

My only interest in this game is that we don't pick up any injuries to important players on these sh*t yank pitches.

In fairness we dont need the pocket money Clyne would generate that much to ruin your day.

Expecting a better performance tonight.  At least we've had a couple of days.  Seemed to get off the plane and then had two games in less than two days - bit F***ing daft.

Result not important, but IF we start with a semi-strong line up then we'd expect to see a good showing with our senior names at this stage.

Not long now until it all kicks off.

Hoping we win this one. I’ve read a few posters trotting out the old ‘pre season results mean nothing’ linebut the truth of the matter is we generally win the majority of these games every season so it always alarms me a little bit if we lose a few.

That's because they don't. After the Dortmund game, Klopp went out and said he learned nothing from the game and that all it showed was that they were ahead of us in preparations. People are just too panicky and constantly getting their panties in a bunch over everything.

What difference has it made to us in previous years winning meaningless pre season games?

We won our first trophy in a decade last year!

      Agreed - I genuinely don’t give a f**k about these results.

Plus back in the day, a good pre season on Championship Manager usually meant a sh*te season was coming

Hope he makes a full recovery wish him well it's just a missed opportunity that we didn't sell him soon as the transfer window opened as Klopp doesn't rate him. Anyway he wasn't going to feature for us this season so it's all irrelevant really.

      Clyne I'm referring to.

      Klopp definitely rates Lallana.
