Poor first half better in the second half but the difference is finishing post bar off the line twice. City are more clinical

How? Sterling sh*t himself in a 1v1 where he could have squared it for a tap in.

Although we drew the match yesterday, Man City won the Shield via penalties. At the end of the day, Man City walk away winners, and got the better of us. That's what it's about. That's what happened last season. 1 point. We played better than them for much of the season, and arguably better in the head to head, but Man City picked up the trophy.

So have we closed the gap? Evidently not. Not yet. We are still in the moment of not doing enough.

Nothing looks like changing just yet? Man City strengthened over the summer. We did not. So, now face the reality of having to excel and hit above our weight yet again. Man City can go and put in another storming season without much push. We will have to really push hard to go and do what we did last season. Think of all those match defining moments aka Origi. Now we have to go and do it all again.

Unless we click, and stay clicked, whilst Man City mess up, we will face de ja vu come May 2020.

I disagree. I think we can win the league. I think we can beat City to the finish. Here is why I believe this....

Anfield is a fortress, half our games are there. Every team in the league is dreading their trip to us.

Fabinho. He didn't start playing until later in the season. He truly may be the difference this season with a few extra games for us.

Kieta. We all know he is better than what he showed last year. We saw it at the end of last season. If he is healthy it could be huge. I see him forcing Gini on to the bench permanently by seasons end.

Lallana. This is the wild card, but if he ca. Stay healthy he will be utilized in some key moments. He is the trickiest player we have in the middle, completely different than any other player we have. There are games in which his services will be needed to unlock the parkers. Its asking a lot for him to stay healthy, but if he does he will be this seasons Origi

      Ox is healthy

Our front 3 is amazing and will be again this season

We hit the framework twice and only an unbelievable goal line clearance prevented City from going behind.

They're an excellent team so they were always going to create chances but I thought we looked more dangerous overall. City are the ones under pressure and they know it. We got their number lads. It's going to be another wild ride...

From Sunday’s display  what jumps out is our pace and aggression have improved immeasurably to the extent that Citeh were unable to present any real threat, beside the scrambled goal early in the first half.
There will be some trepidation in the Citeh camp as the season approaches.

when a team gets 97 points in a season, with only one defeat and wins the ChL you cannot ask much.
The team looks like it needs just a little bit of fine tuning to perform at its best.
The biggest advantage of City last season, was that their core players have played together for at least 2 to 3 years. Meanwhile we had players that were first timers like Fabinho, Alisson, Keita, Shaq.
That advantage no longer exists. Our players have a full season together with each other and I think the overall performance will be better.
The only thing that troubles me is a situation where some key players are injured or in bad form. I don't think that we have the quality on the bench to replace them. Last year City lost De Bruyne 4 times due to injury (almost 3 months in total) and they haven't been affected. And also their squad depth allowed them to go full front on 4 different competitions (3 domestic, and CHL), while we were focusing on 2.
So, we need a couple of top notch replacements and I believe we can be in a very strong position.

If we let Coutinho join Spurs without an attempt you would have to question the club.

Get him on loan with a view to resigning next summer. Simple. Do not let him join a rival!

      We moved on from him

He paid to leave , he faked an injury to ensure he left - little snake can rot. Thought we had more respect as a club

They've finished ahead of us most seasons in recent years, so of course they are a rival and they and Man Utd have significantly strengthened this summer compared to us.

Think we can win league but only if play u23 play fa cup or league cup games try keep first 11 fresh, for premier league because we can't afford any big injuries to best players way city can get way with few injuries still win league

      Because we missed one penalty?

I think the game indicated that any gap between the sides is minute, and could go either way on a given day. They have won just 2 of the past 13 games against us, where penalties don't count.

The bigger question is can we go toe to toe with them again after deciding not to strengthen the squad during this transfer window. Can we play Spurs and the mancs during the post-Christmas hangover and take 6 points? Can we go to Arsenal and play Chelsea in the run in and take another 6 points? Because we will probably have to do all that, and win over 30 games just to get the chance to go to Newcastle and win the league.

Manu are a mess. Mcguire improves them, but thats it.

and then theres the big names wanting out.

      Its brilliant tbh.  :lmao:
