Great to see him running and kicking a ball.

How close he actually is to joining 1st team training again I've no idea ... is it to hopeful to say not far off?

Ligaments have obviously healed. The fracture has healed as has the dislocation. You would think he would be doing strength work on the ankle and building up his fitness.

Specialized cells called osteoclasts absorb worn-out bone cells, removing them constantly from the bone. Simultaneously, other cells called osteoblasts are taking calcium from the blood and redistributing it upon the bone. This process occurs throughout your life.

When you're young, you're building bone faster than it can be replaced. Until about the age of 20, your bones are focused primarily on one thing: getting bigger. Even after you've reached your maximum height, your bones continue piling on the calcium in an effort to get thicker and denser.

When you get old, however, your osteoblasts (bone-builders) can't keep up with the osteoclasts (bone-removers). When an older adult suffers a bone fracture, the body directs more resources toward the break, but the bone itself is already involved in a losing cycle of bone removal and replacement, with more being removed than replaced. This is why it takes older people longer to heal.

its really quite exciting to see just how good he will be he already looks so mature on the pitch and his team mates clearly have a lot of faith in him.

Fantastic to see his recovery going so well.

Be class if he is back playing when we lose Salah, Sadio & kieta to the african nations.

That's a real boost isn't it, particularly with busy Christmas period and then Afcon cup not long after. I think we're going to need him

It's great news BUT the worst thing we could do right now would be to rush him back. We must have a long term vision.
Obviously, I trust our medical department but usually, it's the player himself that tends to push too hard and needs to be calmed down.

Unlikely he will be playing any part over this period. Would hazard a guess at around mid-late Jan before we see him starting to get minutes.

It appears he will be back in team training at some point next month, which means in February he could be back in matches.

I don't know when he'll be considered ready for games but I never would have expected him back in team training by this week. It would be great if he can regain his form of early season. He really added something to our attack.

I still hope he can be a factor for the CL 1/4 finals and beyond. I hope he does not lose his swagger like Ox did.

I understand (and like) your optimism but we must be careful not to get carried away. He will need time, and he will have setbacks. Let's not forget how big an injury it was, for a very young lad.
The way I see it, this season will mostly be about 'rebuilding' his body and confidence, so he can be back at his best next season. Time is on his side, no need to rush him.

I'm all good and fine with no rushing him back. He's the best investment we have.

With that said,  it won't blow my mind if this kid is playing in 3 weeks and scoring a big goal in the next 4 months. Kids cut from a different cloth

I don't doubt Jürgen and his team will err on the side of caution. Whenever they can determine there is no increased risk of injury, that is when we'll see him.

If he's in team training, we can hope he can already start to play at the start of February, so he can be back to 100% in March. And boy, does our midfield need him if we wanna do damage in CL and FA Cup.

I'm skeptical he'll be able to make much of an impact this year. That was a really serious injury and it will take time for him to have confidence in the healing during a game situation even when doctors tell him there's no danger in playing. Fingers crossed.
