One thing is for sure our defense needs to be as last season and we have a decent shout

Thats my problem at the mo, we seem to be shipping goals even when we've got a decent side out. Only short up top, but midfield and defence pretty solid. Or so it looked. I'm feeling uncomfortable with this. Hope i'm wrong and it all comes good, but getting beat by city, will hit the confidence from the start. we need at least a draw and a half decent performance to take into the prem games.
Sorry to disappoint, Feeling somewhat uneasy me.

Maybe and only maybe, because I do not question, but Ox need to be in the centre, if we have not a left winger, millie, can do it, same on the right with one of the kids if not Gini, I think that JK knows how THEY do this, and if you know this you have options

Not sure what kind of shape Firmino and Salah are going to be in, and obviously without Sadio Mane then this looks a tough prospect.

Living in hope rather than expectation for this fixture.  Think this will be the first Community Shield I've watched in a long time.

They’ve only had 3 weeks rest, fitness doesn’t deteriorate that much, with a weeks training they’ll be fine! No real difference as if they’d been injured for 3 week.

We will be ready to go full steam for Norwich though, well apart from Origi starting and Sadio on the bench

Wow, never been called "another one" before, but each day brings new things.

The thing is, you didn't really just say a loss, you said, proper humiliation and an arse kicking, plus a prediction of a 6-0 to City, hence the post of never give up, the phrase on the shirt worn by Salah when to be honest, coming back from a 3-0 deficit to Barcalona was, to all intense and probably, not a reality.

      But hey.

Have you really never been referred to as in a group before, I find that astounding, are you a hermit or something?

Anyway yes after the Napoli game I did FEAR a humiliating defeat by Citeh, but I certainly did not WANT that and I never would against anyone.
On reflection I actually think it will be quite a competitive game and that we will play a lot better than we have been in the other pre- season games, I'm actually looking forward to it.

It's sad that the majority of post in these threads are rarely about footy these days. I miss the days when people agreed to disagree and allowed everyone else to get on talking about the match.

1-1 Liverpool, we win on pens. My crystal ball tells me we use.

      Milner
      Fabinho
      Wilson
      Virgil
      Shaq
      ;)

I agree with you, although I'm likely the main culprit, I only attack when I myself get attacked, I'd much rather engage in civilised debate. I think you might be correct in your prediction on the score and result.

      Starting Lineup Sunday?

Totally guessing based on preseason and today (and the fact that teams only get to make 5 subs):

      GK: Allison
      D: Trent, Robbo, Virgil, Matip
      M: Fabinho, Henderson, Gini
      F: Origi, Firmino, Salah

Those last two forwards ares the toughest to predict because Bobby and Mo only went 30 and 45 minutes respectively today and only started training Monday, but they both looked lively and with two free subs, Jürgen will likely give them at least 45 and go from there. I would expect Harry Wilson to get on, probably Brewster and for sure Milner and Ox.

Can see Brewster getting the nod ahead of firmino for this one from the start based on the fact Firmino only got 30 minutes against Lyon while salah got 45, hopefully chamberlain features seems to like playing against Manchester City💪🏻

I think we will see something like this for a starting line-up on Sunday

      ---------------Alisson---------------
      TAA-----Matip------VvD------Robbo
      -----Hendo---Fabinho---Milner----
      -----Salah----Origi-------Gini-----

Subs: Mings, Gomez, Ketia, Ox, Lallana, Brewster, Firmino

I believe you get six subs so I expect pretty much everyone to get somewhat of a run out besides Mings.

Feeling more optimistic about this sfter the Lyon game. Thought we looked pretty decent, don’t know what I was worried about 😁
Hence I’ve gone for a reds win in 90 mins. 3-1 to the mighty red men

That's a very defensive, counter attacking team, might be about right against Citeh.

I think it will be a safe selection for 1st 60mins, then unleash Salah & Bobbi for last 30mins.

Or could go the other way and give them both 60mins depending on how they do over next few days in training.

So what’s it to be Brez ?
Is it better to start with your top strikers, hopefully get ahead. But give the opposition a lift when they go off !
Or is it better to hold out with the second choice, and see the opposition mentally wilt when the top guns come on at 60 mins !

I’m never sure which is better myself.

I like the bigger guns on from the start, even if they can only manage 45 minutes.

I see four kids returned home from Evian (Sepo, Lewis, Larouci and Hoever), but Brewster and Elliott stayed, they may be in consideration for a spot on the bench . If it is only 7 on the bench, Jürgen is looking at a selection headache already, maybe leaving the likes of Ox, Lallana, Keita, Wilson, Shaqiri or Brewster on the bench

Ugly in what way?  We are missing Mane, but otherwise what is the issue? (Or do you mean we are overwhelmingly powerful?
