Salah not shooting across the goalie but going for the near post drives me crazy.

A lot. Basic sh*t. He could score 50 a season, him. Let's so many good chances go begging aside from the many he sticks away.

Pep blew it gaskitt on the 50-50 with Gomez and i think Silva, calling it a high boot, well both boots were the same height Pep so F**k off with your whinging and giving the lino the Spanish inquisition,
Truth is, he knows we are better than his side,  he knows we can run them ragged the only team that can, he knows we will be taking his crown off him , and he doesn't have a answer despite all the money at his fingertips,

Let's be honest here, cast your minds back to the Barca game, Pep's favourites coming to Anfield....3-0 up...to knock us out of the CL...and probably the final nail In our title challenge....and clearing the path for City to pop the champagne corks..
So your Pep, sat watching, hoping and then BOOM !!
Divock, and Gini with the aid of a few others turns his world to sh*t,...

....just wondering what really went through his mind that night....if Liverpool can do that to Barcelona..??

Gini's only contribution was his penalty, and that was rubbish. The lad just isn't good enough in midfield.

Yes, he played badly but people have low memory, you did not say that after Barcelona's game. Even Alisson, should have done better for Sterling's goal and to save the only penalty that he guessed right.

      Gutted to be fair.

Don't like to lose any game we take part in and when there is Silverware on the line, that feeling goes double.

Absolute sh*t first half where we looked all over the shop but that second half was amazing.

Mo looked sharp but his constant shooting on goal when there are other options for tap ins, is doing my head in.

As for the goal line...f**k do these cu*ts get the rub of the green against us!!!

Bring on Norwich is all I can say, we are going to be ready to go from the off!

One thing for sure City will not relish playing us in the league. And didn't Mo look in fine form.

I thought Mo looked quite poor in terms of finishing and vision but had good movement and dribbles so overall quite encouraging.

Think a striker has to be selfish at times, but mo is just overdoing it.
The team comes before the golden boot so I think Juergen  may be having a quiet word.
That was a winnable game but for two simple cut backs.
City and Pep really rattled with our second half, and clearly know who is the better side.
If the difference in the Prem is the two games against them, I know who’ll be looking forward to them the most. And it ain’t F***ing city !
Shame it went to pens when we clearly had the beating of them over the 90.
      And on to Friday night.

Thought he was very poor yesterday.  Hope it's just a blip, although midfield is an area where at least we do have options to rotate underperforming players.

Showed them too much respect first half and allowed the ale house long ball to reach in behind TAA/Gomez everytime.
Sterling is such a little tw*t, he was 5 yards offside the moment they took the free kick which led to their goal.
Saying that, we went to sleep, WTF Origi was doing trying to defend in place of Gomez I'll never know.

Lallana & Ox came on too late, any earlier and we'd have won the game with their pressing.

Obviously NO corner kick training over the summer then? every corner we had was a F***ing dreadful delivery.

Can't understand how Jürgen can praise all these youngsters (Wilson/Kent/Brewster etc) and yet feature none of them yesterday when quite clearly we needed someone to simply run at them second half..

Must do better on Friday !!!

Was thinking about this game and stats for last season - we lost once all season and Citeh got beat 4 times yet they still took the trophy.
We did have too many draws which is what lost us the Prem. and after the game I thought is this the start of the same scenario?
The main difference for me was the manner of the  drawn game, we hit the woodwork  as much as a F***ing woodpecker and the ball was twice cleared off the line, they had one scrappy goal and were stifled for much of the game.
Unlike last season the forward play was imaginative and a cause for optimism and did restrict Citeh who more than once had all their players in a defensive role.

A cause for optimism indeed and no doubt the Prem and manc media will be scared shitless.

      What game were you watching?
"Never connected with the ball all match"  he hit the post, had one cleared off the line which just flew over and their goalie made some stops, he was unfortunate not to score as were others who I venture you would describe similarly, sounds like you may have watched the BBC edited version.

On the matter of the lob - which put the ball into slow motion mode, what's with the heroics of Walker? Had time to grab a cuppa, and walk with the cup in hand to go and clear that ball.

Can remember one shot in the second half that had plenty of power from a good connection and looked like it could go bottom corner but for a good save.

He had some snap shots that weren’t great but against Bravo you never know because he’s so unreliable. There’s not a lot more a player can do to score when he hits the post twice, gets denied by a damn good save and has one cleared off the line. His overall performance was impressive I thought, he was ripping Zinchenko to pieces all game. Thought he was very similar to the Salah we saw in his first season, he looked so quick and sharp. Last season he was obviously at a damn good level again, but vs City it was like he’s gone up another gear.

Well I saw the game on BT with obviously a different  mindset than you, one that could appreciate the effort shown.

Alisson should have done better on the Sterling goal and Zinchenko penalty.

Wijnaldum looked nervous for his penalty. If you are nervous, hit the ball with power. Don't softly pass it.

Salah is the worst best player in the world. Extremely dangerous but so frustrating at times. Takes too many shots when he should pass.

We drew the game and could have won. We lost a shoot-out. No big deal.

We beat Norwich Friday and lift the Super Cup Wednesday, happy days!

I don't quite get all this about Alisson, he spread himself in the same way that saw him stop so many goals last season.
It was the fact Sterling mis-hit it, and it dribbled under Alissons spread.
If Sterling had hit it cleanly, it would probably have been saved.

      Just one of those things.

Brilliant 2nd half, could have easily won by 2 or 3, Mo unlucky not to score, but how good was he considering only 1 weeks training after his holidays.

I think the lads keep themselves in good shape even on holidays, with daily runs and trainiing.

The days when players used to come back after summer 2 stone over weight are long gone.
To be fair, with the odd exception, it's never been that much of an issue here, but it certainly has at other clubs.

Paddy Kenny at Leeds has to be the best of the modern era though :lmao:
